I wasn't impressed because I expected Harlingen to be a well-oiled machine offensively, but still didn't see Precision. I was looking for 6 or 7tds. I figured it was gonna rain touchdowns....but it was ok scrimmage by both teams.
I'm gonna go watch the PSJA MEMORIAL/WESLACO EAST scrimmage later today. I'll give a summary after the scrimmage.

i think it was pretty good for a first scrimmage, and PI is a very good, well coached team. i would rather the cardinals be a well-oiled machine by week 3, thats all i care about. i really didn't seem to see many false starts, so that was good for a scrimmage.

I wasn't expecting a well oiled machine today. I mean...It's a first scrimmage. I thought they looked really good for a first scrimmage. There were some mistakes but the offense looked pretty good. Murphy looked good except he still underthrew and overthrew receivers like last year. He is much improved though. Great job murph. The defense looked impressive. They came out ready to play and pretty much looked good. They are going to be a tough unit this year. If things keep improving week to week...this is going to be an exciting year for Cardinal Football.

IMPRESSIONS OF PI:
PI coach may have bitten more than he could chew, as it appeared to me that PI was outmanned for most of the game. Harlingen had almost double the number of kids on the sideline, so by the time they came to regulation play (2Q), PI looked worn down. You could even see the fustration from some of the players on defense as they threw in a few late cheap shots on a couple of occassions. Although the PI offense did not score, they looked like they could hold their own very nicely against 32-3a opponents. Bottom line, if PI was looking for a pounding like they got today, they should have just continued scrimmaging Los Fresnos.

IMPRESSIONS OF HARLINGEN : Right from the beginning, Harlingen came out fired up for this scrimmage. I think this played a huge role in intimidating their opponents. Defensively, they didn't have a lot of monsters, but they had a LOT of speed and a LOT of aggresiveness. LBs were constantly shooting the gaps (which I thought was kind of weird b/c I thought you couldn't blitz during scrimmages) and disrupting PI's gameplan. Wonder if they will be able to to this against a team that is more evenly matched. Offensively, QBs looked good (especially the 2nd string). As mentioned earlier, they were living and dying by the pass. (shotgun formation). PI defense would come up big one play, but Harlingen found themselves able to convert those 2nd/3rd and long situations w/ relative ease. (once again, can they do this against a bigger team has yet to be seen). Overall, Harlingen does look good, but like Alaniz said, I expected them to bury PI by at least 5 TD. (nothing against PI ;d)

be careful putting PI down, i think they just need some more practice, continue to get in football shape.

Very good scrimmage by the cards
PI had a couple of big plays but too far in between
Paco was the main rb not vega and he is A-A. Tarpons had a lot of trouble with handoffs /fumbles some unforced
Not too many penalties compared to last 2 seasons lol
Secondary does need work but they got at least 2 ints. Harl. Needs to b careful a better secondary could return those passes to the outside for tds!
Ill try to post some pics later

Well a little rusty thats ok. I felt that would happen this early. Harlingen will have an aggressive Defense no doubt and was being said in the media earlier. PI then will have to work on polish and chemistry with new look combination of the seniors and upcoming JV. It is good to know Joe Vega did well how about Green, and the others?
