Even though its only a scrimmage it should be a fun one to watch...hopefully they'll do the 2nd half as real game situation

I hope they will too. Has Harlingen ever played PI?? I don't they have played either PI or EE. Should be an interesting scrimmage and preseason. What does PI bring to the table considering I have never seen them play? I know they have plenty of running backs but do they pass at all? How is their defense gonna be this year?

This will be the first time ever that Port Isabel plays Harlingen High.
Port Isabel brings back a decent number of returning starters, which includes the entire offensive line. There will also be plenty of new faces coming up from an undefeated JV team that are also very talented.
Kyle DeMoss (QB), RBs Joe Vega and Jude Green, LB Brian Rudnick, DL E.J. Holland are just a few of the kids coming up from that very talented JV team. All of them will be Juniors

Traditionally pi breakdown is 80/20 run/pass Usaually running the option 1/4th of those runs PIs defense has been lackin these past couple of years. Hopefully they can bring back the highly touted seawall defense as I've seen glimpses of that from this past jv team. I also heard that same jv def coordinator might replace pi def coord this upcomin season

I see they have potential to be a good group, but it remains to be seen. Also, it will be of great interest what kind of D the Tarpons will run this year. Now if it's changed, will they make the adjustments quick enough to get some wins early in the season. Who is the JV def Coordinator, you mean to tell me there is no one in place yet??? I look foward to this scrimmage, and I know that it's just a scrimmage, and so it won't be an true indication of what type of team PI will have. However, this will give me an idea of what potential the Tarpons might have this season.

I'll be driving down from Houston to see this scrimmage, so I'll definitely need to know whether the scrimmage will be at Boggus Stadium, or at Harlingen High.
I don't want to waste a whole bunch of gas for nothing. ;D Can someone find out for sure from either the PI or Harlingen coaching staff?

Got this from another website, unofficial though. Harlingen High and Boggus are about a 3 min drive from each other, not much gas wasted. I'm sure we will have the official site before too long.

Port Isabel at Harlingen High, 10:00 a.m.

However, this will give me an idea of what potential the Tarpons might have this season. Pretty much where I feel it is. Slow start and depending on how soon all upcoming talent and the offense/defense will start adjusting is the big ?. The back field we have two running backs with varsity experience in Diego and Rollie that might also need that new QB adjustment, but what I hear is that might not be the case. The upcoming backs already are pretty much in sync with him. But the other question that looms as big to me is a backup QB. Is there/are there some hopefuls that might keep the depth chart from going down too much just in case. And even though we have some returning experience on the line how good is the upcoming line from last years JV. In other words what depth is there with the line both defense and offense? I don't know if we have ever played the Cards, but we might have scrimmaged them in the past.

As far as depthwise from the jv squad it will be there after all they have beaten rh the last 2yrs as a jv squad. From the vids they swarm to the ballcarier better
I think Montys son was heading the jv def. And will take over the varsity reigns unless Monty picked someone else. I believe the position has been filled- interim at least lol
I also like that kyle has been running the jv team instead of being a sideline backup at varsity.

the cardinals return a very talent d-line lead by domingo rincon(all-district) and J.B. guiterrez(all-district). i dont think running teams will be able to run on the cards very much this year, but who knows, their always injury problems as always

I guess the best way to get an answer to the QB backup is who will be playing QB when PI is way ahead and the starter will be taken out of the game?
