I would imagine a lot more passing is going to be involved. Hopefully. Correct! More pass than run.

Anyone heard how the new coach is working out with the offense? Where are all the cardinal peeps anyway? I saw ol 40 watt out and about the other day ( he was wearing a cards shirt and a little piece of me died) and he said everything was going well. The kids are responding well to him and it looked bright. The HC is giving him a free reign and he's taking off with it. He said the Seniors were a bit resentful of him but the underclassmen were very responsive. He said the biggest change is the Cards are having to get used to having thier butts chewed. ;D The Red Birds are gonna be dangerous this coming year.

Welcome ninjas!
Thanks Newbs for that little tidbit of information. I heard that there was going to be more passing than running this year. Nice to hear. I was getting a little tired of the QB running all the time. Also, I am sure the offense is having to get used to having their butts chewed which is gonna be good for them. The defense on the other hand, I am sure, gets chewed enough with Coach Gomez always watching them.

So what is the deal with the QB situation? Why didn't murphy attend that QB thing in Harlingen?

Really? Who is mack sanchez? Is he a senior? From what I saw about John Murphy was a Strong and accurate arm when he settled his feet and had time to throw. What I also saw was an uncharacteristic Harlingen QB that couldn't make the "field general"type decisions and was very inconsistent. He'd get a rythmn and then throw an interception. What I also saw was an O-LINE that had a below average pass protection. The WRs and TEs are set. Hgn just needs to find a QB that can take control of the offense and not make the same mistakes. RBs need a TRUE LEADER out there. Guys like Jacob Hernandez and Ted Snavely have made poor decisions as SENIOR players. And the teams suffered for their decisions. I mean it's ok to make mistakes, but learn from them and correct them during the game and in practice. If John Murphy has worked on his mistakes and his footwork...I can see him LIGHTING IT up on Friday Nights. Who the heck is Mack Sanchez?? Is that Robert Sanchez's little brother?

I've seen JM play and he does make mistakes but you can tell he tries really hard. Even when the many of the Cards fans were yelling to the coaches to take him out, he was always out there trying to make the best of it even though some of the fans booed him loudly. He seemed to hold on to the ball too long sometimes and at other times the O-line just didn't give him enough time to find his man. And the fact that the coaches would switch QBs during the games I saw doesn't seem to help his confidence. But I think if the coaches stick with one QB and stop farting around with the players it can only help. The defense is very good , they play with a lot of intensity and play hard every down, at least from what I've seen. EE is gonna have their hands full with that defense.

I always thought they should have stuck with one QB. I think jacketvato is right. The confidence couldn't have been high with the switching all the time. I always thought the OC never worked with the QB that much. Neither one looked confident when they were out there. I hope with the new OC that things will change and the QB position will be solidified.

With this Sanchez guy now turning heads, do you think there's gonna be the same problem with the switching of QBs or should Gomez let them fight for the job. If he's as smart as I think he is, he'll make them compete for the job and stick with him.

the line is going to take a little longer to come around if they're not used to the BOB blocking they have to do in the spread.

There is nothing wrong with accepting a shirt with a redbird on it as a gift. It would automatically improve your taste in t-shirts, considering I imagine you only have LF shirts. ;D
