I know of smoking Joes BBQ on military. Is it that one? I stopped there one afternoon and picked up a brisket sandwich. It was pretty good.
If not thats good that they are opening another bbq restaurant in the area cause there arent any in the weslaco area.

I dont' know if WP is talking about this one one, but a cousin of mine just called me yesterday letting me know he was opening a BBQ in Mercy. The restuarant is located 1 block north of bus 83 off vermont ave (just over the RR tracks on the West side). If this is not the one, then there are 2 that will be opening up within a couple of days of each other.

I don't know if I would pay to go to a BBQ place... the closest thing that I would ever go to would be a steak house.

I know Ram's owner was looking into opening a BBQ place in Mercy like the one he had on north Westgate. His partner ship at Los Compadres (the old Beto's resturant) didn't go so well.

yeah redfish is correct. the owner/cook used to play baseball for mercedes i believe. apparently he was one hell of a pitcher, he's also one hell of a cook. one block north of old 83 on vermont. everything on the menu was great......and yes i tried everything. it's easy when you take 5 people. reasonably priced. similar to fat daddy's here in weslaco but tastes better.

Carlos Pimentel's nickname was Pepper. That was the pitcher that lead Mercy to the state finals in the spring of '86.
