No go for Pacman-Oscar fight!
Wednesday, August 13 2008
Manny Pacquiao has decided to stay at lightweight and defend his WBC 135-lb crown after turning down an offer by Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) for a Dec. 6 fight in Las Vegas, lawyer Franklin Gacal said in a statement released early Thursday morning. "I have been informed that Oscar De La Hoya is firm with the 70-30 revenue sharing and won't budge in to the 60-40 split we have counter-offered. I find the offer of GBP unconscionable hence unacceptable. It would have been an honor to fight De La Hoya on his last fight capping a very illustrious boxing career but under the circumstances, the option left is to move on. I have already made specific instructions to my lawyer to start negotiating with Bob Arum for my next fight with any possible opponent at 135 lbs," said Pacquiao. Gacal said what Pacquiao wanted was a fair share of the mega fight and apparently, Oscar De La Hoya is making an offer that he knows is unacceptable," Gacal told fightnews.com.It is certain that Pacquiao will face Humberto Soto of Mexico sometime in November in Las Vegas.

That dude OSO is crazy....i dont know anyone else on that card....Molano has got a future, he just needs to stay out of trouble with the nose candy....shhhhhhttt..... i agree, i hear these things too from a few people. although i don't agree with it, if you're gonna do it, don't let it get in the way of you making your money. molano is a good fighter and if he plays his cards right he'll be making big money soon i think.

Roach wants Pacman vs Oscar!
Thursday, August 14 2008
By Nick Giongco
Trainer Freddie Roach said on Thursday (Wednesday in the US) that he will try to convince Manny Pacquiao to reconsider his decision to decline a fight with Oscar De La Hoya on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas. "Fighting Humberto Soto is ridiculous," Roach told The Manila Bulletin/Fightnews.com during a break in training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. Roach said he had already set up everything as far as training for the De La Hoya fight. "We need to fight a perfect fight to win against De La Hoya," said Roach

De La Hoya needs to man up and take on a true champion. Pacquiao could be it but that's alot of weight he will moving up to. Sergio Mora? I still dont think he's in that upper elite level. That leaves Margarito. But you have to give credit to De La Hoya, he wants to end his career with a win and that wuld be unlikely if he faces Margarito.

Rather see De La Hoya face Margarito or Trinidad, fighters who would give him a run for his money instead of an undersized guy.

Pacman, Oscar 10% solution!
August 19, 2008
MUCH has been said about the proposed Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao intriguing showdown that people who used to salivate at the thought of seeing this fight happen are now having their eyes dried out reading redundant lines between both camps.
One-liners such as "I will fight anytime, anywhere," "This will be my last fight" and the soon-to-be boxing's byword "Can't pull the trigger" are in some ways diminishing the sincerity and credibility of both fighters, touted as the best of their generation.
Why?
People of this planet, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that everything is being discussed simply because both camps want to maximize potential earnings for this fight.
Mexican-American hero De La Hoya wants "70-30, " Filipino icon Pacquiao desires "60-40." It's all about the money, not the sacks of sand and cement they want to share in building roads, houses, schools and whatever needs of their native lands. If both fighter's are really eager to face each other and that money is not the issue, why not De La Hoya take 60% and Pacquiao 30%?
How about the remaining 10% which is clearly the bone of contention of this dragging talks?
Since both fighters are turning out to be media darlings when it comes to promoting charity events and what have you, why not share that 10% to two charity institutions of their choice?
Pacquiao in his Filipino column recently stated "even our grandkids will be talking about this match even when we are already old. Don't let the opportunity pass." Wouldn't it be nice that their grandkids will talk about the kindness of their grandparents who shared part of their earnings to charity?
De La Hoya is the founder and financier of the Cecilia Gonzalez de la Hoya Cancer Center to honor his late mother and provide diagnostic and treatment options for cancer patients.
Pacquiao is a dynamic philantrophist in the Philippines especially down south in and around his hometown of General Santos City.
If that 10% is a hindrance to both De La Hoya's and Pacquiao's eagerness to face each other, then let the needy benefit from it and get the fight on.

Great point. Is it possible, yes. Likely to happen, i dont think so. I think these guys have been hit too many times in the head to make common sense decisions. But I never thought Farve would be anything but a Packer so you just never know.

so this is goin to be DLH's last fite...why not take on Margarito as his last fite instead of Pacquaio....DLH will have an easy fight against PacMan...would rather see Margarito and DLH.

Remember the Golden Boy wants a win to end his career which probably wouldnt happen if he fought Margarito. The DLH of 10 years ago might have been able to knock out or at least knock down Margarito but not the 35 yr old version. Plus, he doesnt want anything to happen to his mug cause he would not come out of that fight looking like a pretty boy.
I would like to see Margarito redeem himslef against Williams and after that I think he needs to call out Mayweather. Mayweather is not done, with the way he spends cash, he will need a big payday in a year or two.

Master Shake you must be smoking some shake.....DLH in his prime would have gotten whopped by Margarito, fight would have gone much like Margarito-Cotto, Margarito-Cintron I and II......frankly, i dont think there is anyone who can put down Margarito, Punisher beat him because he spotted him 5 rounds...you just dont do that in boxing, 5 rounds in Punisher got on his bike and took his ball home...Cintron hit him flush with power punches, nada....Cintron got exposed....Cotto hit him with flush power punches, combos, kitchen sink, naranjas....Cotto got exposed....i would love to see DLH get his butt handed to him by Margarito...DLH said he would fight the winner of Margarito-Cotto, saw the fight and said he dont want no part of Margarito...
Manny Pac is running back and forth from the lightweight division trying to duck Marquez...he is starting to get to Mayweather status...Marquez is fighting a quality opponent in his debut in lightweight while Pacman took an easy way out by fighting a tomato can champion...sound familiar? Manny is gonna get rocked by Humberto Soto if he goes that route....
Marquez v. Manny Pac and DLH v. Margarito....get over the nonsense "super-fight"...

Key word was "might". I've never been been a DLH fan so I was giving him some benefit of the doubt but I agree if he were to fight Margarito, he would get beaten down. I just hope Margarito stays hungry now that he's got a big time title and money in the bank.

DLH should fight either margarito or cotto in his farewell fight. He has no business to be dealing with pacman.
