BREAKING NEWS out of MISSION CISD!!!

This just in from the Wednesday Board Meeting on June 25, 2008!!!
Finally the district decides to pump in some "extra" funds into athletic program. No POS WOW!!! We're keeping up with the JONESES!!




Board members approved moving forward with an agreement with Daktronics-Daktronics Sales Marketing. This will allow administration
to negotiate terms and authorizes the superintendent to sign the agreement. This will provide new scoreboards for Tom Landry Stadium
and athletic facilities at various secondary schools at no cost to the district.

Hopefully this Tom Landry Stadium Scoreboard will have the jumbotron screen and surround sound system!!!

Slowly but surely every school in the rgv will get some upgrades, (scoreboard, field, weightrooms etc etc) if they haven't already and thats a good thing. Last season alot of schools got upgrades. We have alot of catching up to do to the kind of facilities that some of those teams up north have. Looks like we here in weslaco have set off a chain reaction of some sort lol, now everyone wants a big jumbotron scoreboard. Well the more the merrier i say, just hope more districts will go with diff designs and stuff don't want the same thing all over the place. We were also supposed to get an upgrade on our pressbox at bobby lackey, and they had mentioned they were going to do it this summer but i haven't seen or heard anything about it yet. Idk whats going on with that. I guess we'll see, but indeed good news for mission cisd and mercedes as well.

i know for a fact that there are several schools around the valley who want to upgrade there facilities..... some who are already looking into it...... ;D

That is right MV Welsaco has led the trend. Just another step to get rid of this stigma that Valley football is subpar to the Districts up north. MV with the upgrade to the press box, will Weslaco be required to put in an elevator? I thought I had heard once that if you made your press box bigger, it would require an elevator, I could be wrong.

seems like every school except for good ol LF, we like our 3A facilities

mvfb, the press box and track are coming soon. these big screens and new scoreboards are good things for the valley teams. once the advertising revenue catches up to the scoreboard cost, it brings in a lot of money to the districts that can then be used to bring the academics up to the level that we want our stadiums to be at.

How much usage does the Lackey and Landry stadium get? Anything else besides track meets, varsity football, and varsity soccer?

track........7on7.........., that's about it for now. the revenue made off of those games is a pretty big number. i'm sure they could attract other things to the stadium but that might come later.
