From the 4A Forum: these jumbotron displays and sound systems seem to be the norm here in the RGV for most 5A/4A schools. It doesn't take a lot to get this done. find a sponsor, two, three or more and your done. it is easier than it looks. weslaco had south texas college give a big portion of theirs. san benito www.athleticbusiness.com/graphics/OOC-108-AB.jpgbrownsville The last couple of year’s, we’ve seen some impressive new scoreboards across the Rio Grande Valley. San Benito’s is said to be the biggest while Weslaco is probably the one which gets the most compliments. Now Brownsville will be the newest member to the new scoreboard club just weeks after installing the new polyethylene monofilament “FieldTurf” surface. BISD Athletic Director Joe Rodriguez said the new scoreboard will be state of the art featuring a up-graded video display with replay, in which Rodriguez compared to the one at San Benito. Rodriguez added that the installation is slated to begin in about six weeks, which may be in time for the last couple of weeks of the season. In addition to football, the scoreboard will be used for other events at the stadium such as soccer and track & field. The scoreboard is said to have cost $389,000 according to Rodriguez.
