well economedies blitzed like crazy as a result our qb had one of his best passing games of the season, in my opinion it also taught him to be cool under pressure Flour Bluff will have better athletes. They have better athletes than just about anyone in the Coastal Bend, Calallen has beaten them with coaching and discipline, and with two of the things i mentioned earlier. 06-Duke was cold as ice, 07-Marek was very athletic. Duke was a great athlete too, but he beat FB with the pass.

i love blitzing defenses it leaves someone open on the field There is a risk to playing agressive blitz packages type D. If everyone gets picked up you can get burned deep. Fortunately FB has a lot of speed at LB and in the secondary or they would not run that style of D. Since they do, the QB better be getting rid of the ball as soon as his back foot hits the third back step, something rarely seen done well at the HS level, or he is gonna have to eat it. Usually they go to throwing quick outs until an FB guy steps in front of one and takes it to the house the other way. Then either they shorten up the routes to really short quick outs that won't move the chains in three plays or more often just abandon the pass and try to run. Can't and am not saying that is what will happen, just saying what I have seen before.

I was there. You guys couldn't score with all the pressure. You have to have a hot read if you have the blitzing style of defenses and your QB must be a smart guy in order to read that on a consistent basis.

The only way you're gonna find out if this will materialize PatriotPride is if you guys are matched up in the playoffs. You can come watch what Mission will do to counter their blitzes. Rollouts and bootlegs will help, but only if your HC/OC have taken their Imagination Vitamins against a tough D like the Bluff's. I was at practice today and did not like what I saw in the Mission Eagles. Everyone just standing around and not even breaking a sweat. ON the other hand the Patriots were sweating it out like crazy. I don't know, I don't think Mission is trying too hard out there. And to top it off, only 130 10th-12th graders were at practice today. I hope our coaches have some good stuff up their sleeves for this season.

I don't know that our guys are gonna be able to stretch that FB defense with those all state pre season picks at DB. Guys look pretty lanky, too and I hear they are ball hawks.

He's #4 in his graduating senior class, but the thing I'm hearing is he's really improving his footspeed. Some are telling me he's got it down into the 4.7 area. That's not bad at all. What about Joey from Mission. You mention he's quick and can throw hard. Do you see him as a good qb and better than Salazar perhaps?

Salazar had the potential to be really good he was fast i just dont know what happened to him. i dont think joey is as quick but the arm is slightly better...but i saw joey's arm in 7 on 7 i wouldnt know what his arm looks like with pads on theres some difference there

Salazar was extremely fast, but lacked some accuracy. It didn't help that the passing scheme was really lame last season. You saw it yourself, sideline routes all season. I hope this year they do some different stuff, if you know what I mean.
Joey was the QB as a freshman in the team that beat EE for the freshman district title. I think he will be a good leader. You think?

pre-season all state picks at DB?
Where did you see that? I hope the kid in question doesn't see it.
Interesting how the Pat-fans are interested in FB. Any matchup is pure speculation and a very long way away.

Any matchup is pure speculation and a very long way away. Dave Campbell's Texas Football has one of your DBs as Pre Season All state. My brother has mine currently, but I think the guy is like 5' 11" and checks in at 145lbs running a 4.7 if I recall correctly. It also said he would be going both ways at times.

Dang, I guess he knows all about it then. These kids tend to do better when their heads fit into their helmets.
The current roster in the paper has him at 5-10 and 160. I thought he looked quite a bit bigger. He was skinny little soph. last year but pulled in a bunch of picks. Our wonderful stat keeping useless newspaper has him with two for the season.

What roster in the paper? The Caller already has rosters? Dang, that's pretty quick there...
