this has nothing to do with being cocky! I don't care about that stuff in the past, EE throws that crap in yalls face all the time, I thought I'd share the sentiment with them and see how they liked it. Mercedes played a great game last year, because I don't see it happening it again, doesn't mean its right, its an opinion, thats it! I wish you guys the best of luck and hope you guys knock off the EE 'Jackets, im wondering what they will say after that? pick a moco? can i wipe it on your face? ;D maybe my sleeve..... ;D........or better yet flick onto a EE poster..lol i like the texaaaasports EE posters, the ones here were a lil hostile, so I played with it! I hope you guys play good fundamental defense, if the coaches are teaching the defense to read the keys, PLC offense is not too hard to stop. the blockers take you to the ball. w/o a passing threat, bootlegs and playactions just don't have the same effect! that being said, I don't know that whitaker didn't install a passing game this year, but I doubt it.

We shall see, our front 7 on D will be our strength, the LB's are returners and have that experience but I undertsand PLC has everyone back on O.... You saw us, how do you think we match up with them in terms of our O against their D?

we had less than 40 varsity players last year, most going both ways...not too shabby! if taking extra care to ensure their healed is a mistake I guess we should learn from you guys on how to deal with it and continue winning! what do ya think sparty? whoa! hold your tuti- fruities there. less than 40 players...most going both ways.... So you mean to say only 14-16 kids played througout the game? I think there's something wrong w/ your stats on this one. Maybe it's just me not understanding your post.

their defense is likely to be w/o their leader Boyd. I didn't see anything that stood out about their defense. Their best defense was a grind it out offense. Calallen has been bred to stop that type of offense since 6th grade, Danaher simply forced the 3 and outs and pounded em on offense. You guys have to force a lot of 3 and outs and wear down the defense. I imagine if you have AT at different places on the field not only using him but making him a decoy like Mizzou would Maclin and Fla would Harvin, you guys could do well.

I don't know any other simpler way to explain it.

Hey Eye, this one will be a true measure for the team. PLC returns everyone on offense (everyone) and return 6 on defense led by LB Boyd and both of their nose tackles. They are big and fast. Mercedes will have to go to their passing game early. I think that Leal will have a few tricks up his sleeve but he tends to run those early and then he's out of them late.
I'll tell you just like I told Cosme...don't put all the eggs in this basket. Save some for that omelet down the road called EE.

I'm telling yall, keep that D on the field and by the 3rd and 4th qtr Trevino and Co. can score quite a bit. If they get into the groove early, Mercedes may have to force a shoot out or get blown out.

LOL So according to your post, the other 24 or so players on the bench don't pile up to a hill of beans talent wise??

Danaher since 92 after losing to Westlake the last time said he'd always play the best 22 players at each position. even if it forces some to go both ways. not that they aren't worth a hill of beans, he simply wants his best athletes on the field at all times. you know what they say about ASSumptions if they weren't worth a hill of beans we certainly wouldn't be looking forward to our 24th straight trip to the playoffs!

After watching the scrimmage Friday night I came away feeling like this. Offense looked good in all aspects of the game. What I had concerns about was the D. The front line played very well along with the Linebackers. I was concerned going in to the scrimmage with our very young secondary. The secondary played very well in run support, but needs work in the pass coverage game. Being that PLC is a pound it out type team, I feel better about our chances, because that is where I believe the defense shined Friday. Not worried about the offense, they will put up some points.

Are there any PLC posters over here that want to get into the scrum.

Confidence is a critical ingredient in a winning football team. Mercedes now has confidence that they can not only hang with Calallen, but that they can actually beat them should they meet again. This is the reason I tell our coaches that we should not only beat our opponents, we should destroy them. Calallen's following year team may not be as good as the one before, but if you obliterated a team the year before, most times thier confidence is not there the next year. Oh, they may have some hope on the exterior, but once they get down, ALL the doubts come out. That is a prime reason Calallen has, on many occasions, beat teams that were better than them.

Who are you rooting for in this one stingzone? I'm ambivalent towards Mercedes and PLC both. In games I don't care about I usually go for the underdog. So I guess The Tigers get my vote, but in our pickem I'll pick PLC. Not that Mercedes can't win, it's just that it would all have to come together just right, much like with EE and Cal.
