i guess the city workers fell asleep. is joel still the mayor over there. if so you guys need to talk to him and tell him what happened. i'm more than sure he doesn't know about this yet otherwise there'd be a story about some firing by now.....

From my understanding, it's not the city who's responsible for those flood gates. I live just south of mercedes, but it's not in the city limits. Someone said that those pumps are not the irrigation districts either. I don't know who's responsible, but I'm sure we're going to find out!

well that sux, it'd be better if you had someone to assign the blame too. i'm sure though that if you start asking questions the truth will come out eventually...

I feel sorry for the people responsible when we do find out who they are. Someone is going to feel some wrath!

What's going guys...posting up from work. It's been a lil hectic the past 3 days.To begin with, still no power. However,no water or flood enter since there's a ditch on my front yard.W/O traffic lights & what not-things have been really getting out of hand. While I was pumping gas, beside me was another pump;there was 1 dude already pumping, however,in front & behind him were 2 cars ready to get their 1st,it ended up with an arguement & then the cops arrived.
Man is the traffic ugly on 77 heading toward Mercedes. And I'm sure most of you have seen the lines in fast food restraunts/gas stations.exc.

Finally got power back at about 5pm here in Harlingen I stayed at my moms house which is near Harlingen North High School it got flooded pretty bad in some areas here big trees fell down shingles fell off of roofs, the backyard fence broke apart the streets got flooded some water got in the dining room through the windows but wasnt that bad a portion of the garage roof collapsed cuz water was coming in through the vent mckelvey park is a huge lake some advertising signs fell down and im talkin bout the huge ones some light poles fell down at car dealerships and smashed brand new mustang and other cars at skyline apartments next to echostar the roof collapsed and all u see it metalwork most of harlingen is still without power but i got power here in my apt finally seems like theyre working on the city in sections with the section closest to san benito getting power back sooner other than that lots of long lines for salvation army and whataburger and gas many ppl not prepared and this was just a weak category 2 storm imagine a 3 or category 4 the valley would not be prepared. For everyone else thats still toughing it out my prayers to yall.

Speaking of lawsuit, there is a major flaw in the design of the drainage system for the road that is being built in front of my house. Of course my house didn't get flooded, but the peeps across the street weren't so lucky. All of the water for a mile long stretch of road accumulated there. I'm sure that is not what was supposed to happen... I'll be glad to get in on a class-action lawsuite against FP.
