As a radio veteran of 15 years all in the valey and working from B-104 to ESPN Radio 1240AM I would often get reprimanded for talking about how great satellite radio was. Believe it or not in many cases it's not the music but the announcers that sell the station. If the DJ is cool the music sounds cooler but in some cases the music is a big factor. The last time I was at EE I spoke with Benny Layton and he told me about a station that he runs in which students would play what they wanted and the music was so diverse it sucked said some students but when Mr. Layton took it over and re-tooled it with Mazz,Emilio,Selena,David Lee,Ram,Jay Perez and those artists that were big in the 90's the response from the community has been fantastic. To many radio stations down here get a small piece of the demographics and quiz them musically so you have a small percentage of usually women between the ages of 18-54 deciding what it is we listen to.

i remember when 96.1 was a hiphop station, they would play great music and wasnt really repetitive. When this happened B104 stepped their game up a bit i guess trying to compete and they were playing more hiphop and new music. Ever since 96.1 turned into a tejano station, B104 or wild 104 wtf has gone back to crap. Every other song is reggaeton or stupid club music. And I agree with you on the DJs selling the station. I STILL hate that morning guy that always says "te banas!" That **** is so dumb.

too many dj's get recycled through....the guy who's on b104 now used to be on 99.5 i think.....it's just sad what the radio stations have become down here.......the only 1 that has really stayed consistent is 100.3. 102.1 is also a good station of you like country music, but all the other one's have turned to crap. on my way up to houston yesterday i couldn't wait to get into range of 99.1 and 99.9, those are some good stations....

WP2003 you just contradicted yourself by opening and saying that you could care less about the DJ but when you close you run your list of favorites. I hate to tell you that requests went out with parachute pants. With "corporate radio" your lucky if the dj you hear is even in your state. The power of computers and budgets. One guy can broadcast in 12 different stations at the same time and you'd never know because he's fed hey these are key points and do this and say that and nobody knows that this person is in Tacoma Washington or something like that.
