i was a Jehovah's witness.........raised in it up until the age of 12......the majority of my family are witnesses. Whats that like bro'. Just wondering because I was raised Catholic. I'm not saying that one religion is better than the other because its not. To me it's as long as you have Faith.

it was a little confusing at first warrior. every other kid in my school celebrated christmas, had birthday parties and got presents at those parties. they all went out on halloween, etc, etc, but i wasn't allowed to go. i didn't understand the reason except that that's just the way it was. things were strict but the church elders really helped me to understand my faith. i don't want to say that they seemed more in tune with their own faith than the elders, or leaders, of the other religions i tried, but they did help me a lot more than anyone else did...

one of the major teachings of the witnesses is that you have to tell other people about god and help them to find him, if they want to...a lot of people believe witnesses are annoying but they're preaching the word of god because in their eyes that's what god wanted people to do....

That's true bro'. All Jesus wanted to do was spread the word about his Father. Our GOD.

it really wasn't even that big of a deal. i've had the choice to celebrate now as i'm older but i still really don't. i'm still not sure how i'm gonna handle all those things with my little girl, as far as i'm concerned, i don't really worry about it......

To answer the question, where did we come from? Basically, if you really believe in God, then you probably believe that He created us. I have known a couple people who called themselves Christian, but believed everything evolution teaches. Belief in the Bible and evolution don't match. I really tried to make that work when I was in high school, because science shows always had these cool graphics and movies to help "prove" evolution, whereas at Church all we had were film strips. But after trying for 2-3 years to make evolution fit with the Bible, it just doesn't work. I finally realized that the cool graphics and movies were to woo the people away from the Bible and convince them that belief in God is just a stupid idea and that faith is the non-thinking person's way out. I even heard such statements on the old forum. But it takes more faith to believe some of the fantastic things that evolution promotes than it does to believe in God.

Life after death? Yes. Someone earlier mentioned that they believed once a person died, that was it. That's a theological concept called nihilism. It is an attractive belief, because consequences of sin are basically gone. I believe it is an errant belief and one that is very dangerous to get caught up into. The Apostle Paul discusses this in the book of 1 Corinthians 15:12-19:
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.

Life after death? I do believe this and here is the concept: At the age of accountability (mentioned in an earlier post) or later, if you accept Jesus as the propitiation (His sacrifice as payment for all sins) for your own sins, and you live a life of belief and trying to stay within His lifestyle, then heaven awaits. If a person never accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior, then that person has an eternal life of hell.
