What was she doing in that book section anyways, its not like she can read anyways. I wonder why a Curious George book never offended her? Or the Deputy dog cartoon? Maybe Grape Ape should also offend her. Maybe Mickey Mouse and all his friends along with all the Disney movies should offend us all.
She just has nothing better to do than to complain. And QX has nothing else to do. I wonder why QX has not been out spoken about the atrocities that are occurring in the immigrant community?
If anything about this story were racist it would be these comments by Shawnedra:
"They offended the African-American community, and they did not acknowledge that and apologize to African-Americans," she said. "It's not Mexico's fault. They can have the magazine if you go to Mexico."
She is basically saying go back to Mexico. That would be like telling a black person who wears African Tribal dress (like the one Jim Brown wears on his head) not to buy it here and if do want to buy one go to Africa to get it.

I remember as a little kid on one of the syrup bottles, there was an Aunt Jamima character on the bottle. She looked almost like the mother in the Memin comics. Later the head cover was removed. Basically some black activists had them change that (they made her look less like a slave mammy after that). I hadn't thought there was anything wrong with it then, but then I had to step back and think, well of course not. I was seeing it through a Hispanic-American perspective... Before: Later:

If there are any comics that negatively stereotype hispanics at wal mart, now is the time to bring it up.

they got mad because he had ethnic lips and features. i know some pretty dark mexicans that have thicker lips and more ethnic "features" than any black person i've ever met. like they're the only one's that can have it. this is one of the reason's i'm glad i don't live in houston anymore. too many people crying and whining about how they are oppressed because the gov. lowered their welfare check by 20 dollars. this is stupid, wal-mart should make a stand. i promise no other black person is gonna care about these books because THEY DON'T BUY THEM. what was she doing in an aisle that had the word "libros" in it anyway? she can't read spanish.

Yeah, but this a direct result of decades and decades of real injustices that have led to these premature cries of wolf. (and you're right on the money with the silent majority part. Is it part of our culture to not question the jefe?
