There was no such 139 game win streak.... That was just a pep-talk that a Mission coach told his kids to fire them up for the game. Not te me inches Buzzard!!! Why do you think I put all those smilies after my comment. Yes, Mission's Freshman team broke a 29 or so win streak your freshmen team had two seasons ago. The score was 7-6. You all even have video of it in the EE team website, or at least you did. Those kids are now Jrs. and I remember your QB was Menchaca.

It had all sorts of very questionable calls against the jackets...it had slow motion clips of the supposed penalties we did.

Mercedes gets revenge
McALLEN — The Mercedes football team will never forget that frightful Friday night when they fell to the Valley View Tigers 7-6, capping off the biggest upset of the year.
Mercedes got their revenge as they defeated Valley View 20-6 on Saturday afternoon at the Dodge Arena in a 7-on-7 contest.
"We will never forget what they did to us and we wanted to prove a point to them and win this game," said Mercedes quarterback Albert Chavez.
Chavez, who started off sluggish in the contest, ended up throwing for 204 yards on 19-36 passing and three touchdowns.
"I had to get used to a smaller field and playing in a surrounding like this," said Chavez. "Plus, my arm was cold at the beginning of the contest and I could not get the routes down with my receivers. But, the biggest factor was that I had only had four seconds to get rid of the ball or it was a penalty."
"But, I made the necessary adjustments and started hitting my receivers and making the plays. I started hitting some short routes and then went for some long passes. Overall, I feel I could have played better and need to improve on some things."
Both teams looked sluggish through the majority of the first half as both offenses could not move the ball downfield. But, Mercedes finally got on the board as Chavez connected with Israel Vela on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 2:15 in the first half and took an 8-0 lead.
Then, Chavez hooked up with Jacob Noriega on a 3-yard touchdown pass with 17:26 in the second half and extended their lead to 14-0.
Valley View cut the lead to 14-6 as they scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass with 10:48 left in the second half.
Mercedes answered back and increased their lead to 20-6 as Alex Trevino scored on a 5-yard pass.
"I am pleased with the way the guys were able to adjust to the field and get the win," said Mercedes head coach Bernie Cosme. "These guys remember what happened in the regular season and used this game as motivation. They were determined to not let the same thing happen again and played a great game."
