Since Corpus Christi West Oso is ranked so high I wonder how high PI would jump if they beat them...
And if Rio Hondo actually keeps Cuero within 14 will they drop in rankings?
PI has a very good chance to go D1 as well this year and in my opinion that is the easier route as D2 will be stacked.

I agree. When PI goes D1, it will be an easier route . . . unless Cuero goes as well. If PI wins, I do not think that they will go up in rank much. Everyone I have seen is kind of iffy about CCWO. If RH keeps the game to 14 between Cuero, RH will still drop down alot . . . people claiming overrated and such.

yep . . .
If PI beats CCWO, I think that they should move up . . . but I do not think the polls will do that.

its hard for a rgv team to actually make it on these polls, if RH loses by 10 or more they'll drop out for sure, lose by less than that they should stay in the top 25 (RH currently 25th in DC mag).
Assuming CC WO is around #10(out of 25), if PI happens to beat them by 7 or less. PI might pop in the 20s. If PI wins by 8-14pts, maybe late teens, but no higher. This is PIs best chance to prove they belong in the top 25, until the playoffs.

IMO, that will be hard to replace Granted he will be missed, but PI should be fine. PI has the knack of producing some good RBs. One of his replacements, Diego Garcia didn't do to bad in the 2nd half against Cuero, Garcia had 87 yards on 9 carries (Nolan got hurt in the 2nd qtr) . Also, FYI Nolan replaced M. Villarreal which at the time broke Ryan Richardson's single game rushing record of 398; Villarreal ran for 403 yards in a game.

Don't forget the year before, it was Ralph Valdez, who I understand did well in his first year playing college ball. Plus your right nfc, that's PIs trade mark, having good backs year in year out. We'll see who get's the batton this year.

I'm actually doing a webpage for my site that's dedicated to past PI 'Legends' www.tarponfever.net/legends.htmlBefore ppl start to bash it NOTICE: It's still in a rough draft format (u can still see some links from another page!) Anyways, feel free to contribute any online links to past outstanding PI players, which might have stats, pictures, etc.

On the question of replacing Nolan. Tarpons will not have any problems with their backfield. It will actually have a lot of depth, which will more than make up for Nolan. The speed is fine, but if the rest of the backfield is not there it puts too much of a burden on one man as it was the case with Nolan. And then he was injured on and of. This year depth will take care of that problem. PI will be stacked starting this season in the backfield category. Only the 2002/2003 had more experience and speed. The type of backs coming up mixing with Diego and Rollie Alaniz will have more depth then back in 2006 when Ralph was there. Next year should be even stronger for PI. The other areas is where it will be tested. We have some experience mixed with good JV players coming up. That is where it will be interesting. I will be surprised if we start very strong first few games, but if we do alot of questions will be answered. Lets hope that will be the case.

ummmm i dont think there is a lot of depth Alaniz is a fullback and if either him or Diego get hurt you have to put in an inexpirienced player that is not use to the speed... now im sure the backups will do a good enough job but there will be a step down i think

IMO it will come down to the play of PI's new Varsity Field General (aka, QB ) on how PI starts the season. Can't wait for the Harlingen scrimmage!
