So what is CJ Barrera? Combination of Missile/Ralph that is one explosive back with power! And then you add his fathers talents!. Casi was one very inteligent back. He used his blockers very well just weaving in and out of them. He sometimes looked like he was gliding with stall, burst stall burst and then just sneaked (from behind or through a gap) right out of the blockers into the open field and was gone. He was about 145 lbs. at most when playing. but he did not have Missiles speed. So his son as being said here has all these qualities that is one hell of a back. So will the real CJ Barrera please stand up? Or better said will someone here who knows about him well please bring out the real CJ Barrera.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't his class the ones that starting the winning tradition?

I think so FootballGal. Wasn't Casi a Junior or Senior on that 1974 team?

Yeah thats about right around 1973-74. One back that he looked up to was Tony Gonzalez "La Pichorra" when he was in the junior high level. I remember Casi as this scranny kid who no one would believe would become the back he did. For those of you who don't know who Tony Gonzalez is is the father of Jimmy Gonzalez one of the star running backs of the 1994 team. Tony was one heck of a back. He was coined the most colorful back in South Texas during the District Banquet. He had some good speed and balance. Once beyond the line of scrimmage he was long gainers or TDs. What is interesting was that we won district in the Junior High level but never did in High School. We felt it was the changing of coaches every year or two years. Coach Gonzalez was who took us to district in the Junior High. I did get to see Casi play he was very deceptive and tough for his size.

One other characteristic about Casi that was also the case of Tony Gonzalez is that it was very hard to hit him straight on. They both just moved with the blow and not agianst it and sometimes were free to run again. Both had pretty good speed but I think Tony was faster.

Yeah, Jimmy Gonzalez was a fun player to watch. Not the fastest or elusive, but he had plenty of both that help that '94 team reach the semis.

i hear every one referring to kids having misael's (missels) speed, folks missile was a Jr on our varsity squad when i was a senior, No one is a fast as missile for the exception of maybe mishak or alex from mercy, i mean i dont know if you all know this, but missile WON STATE in the 100 yrd dash his soph year. That boy was fast,so if anyone of yours boys wins STATE then maybe we can say he was as fast..etc. etc.
