Well summer teams dont run set plays and probably arent in season shape so alot of changes are made so once tournaments come around and pre-season we will find out which the top teams are....until then we will have to wait...

What Edinburg Bobcats need is to keep Coach Cuellar. Coach Cuellar, afterall, has had the players respect for several years now. There would be no transition, just a continuation of a program he helped establish. Coach Cuellar has never been a political animal. His record speaks for itself! It would be an injustice if the school board overlooks him. Stallions, you seem to have overlooked some exceptional and proven point guards like Ben Gonzalez from Mission Vets, Adrian Rodriguez from PSJA North, Joseph Bedford from Harlingen South, Johnny Herrera from Mission High, Michael Cantu from Harlingen High and Samir Wadhwani from McAllen Memorial. Weslaco could be a good team but don't compare them with McHi, Roma, Hanna, Los Fresnos or Edinburg. Match up the Weslaco players with any of these teams and mismatches will definitely be obvious! Los Fresnos and Hanna are very well-coached teams, but McHi and Roma have a talent pool unsurpassed by none this year. The depth on McHi and Roma's teams could spell the difference down the stretch. When Nick Garza returns to their team, he will raise the teams play to a higher level. I watched him play last year and that boy can defend, run, jump, shoot and keeps turnovers to a minimum. McHi's Coach Swift is unquestionably the best. What Coach Swift did with the youngest team ever to reach the regional semifinals, "Sweet Sixteen", in region VII-5A's history was remarkable. With all 5 starters coming back and an outstanding bench, this team should go back to San Antonio and possibly Austin. Roma's Coach Garr is also a disciplinarian and a no nonsense kind of coach. Coach Garr will definitely go deep into the 4A playoffs led by experienced players.

I agree with you on names you listed. Jonathan Herrera is another point guard besides Eddie Cantu that is ranked in Texas. I do not let the Swift-Valdez situation influence where I feel teams should be. I respect both programs. We have seen Weslaco play numerous times in tournament settings against Edinburg, McHi, Los Fresnos, Hanna, Ponder and others and have more than proven their off season status in Summer. It is still early and anything can happen. Roma and Mchi look real solid and split games this past month. It will be interesting to see if anyone can pull off what Edinburg did this past season by not losing to a Valley team. Good luck to all.

Please don't tell me Harlingen is going to suck this coming year. Anyone know if they are going to give anyone some trouble?

The Cards will be the Cards if you know what I mean. They will play a hard and physical style. They will try to press full court. Mike Cantu is the real deal.

Only got to see one McHi game last year which was in Roma during the Playoffs. They looked good then and with just about everyone coming back, they will be a force to reckon with.

Master Shake, the bulldogs are the real thing. Once they get back together, they will be really tough.
