No comment is what people say when they can't formulate a response. Bulldogs are looking good!!! you're right. no comment means i have no response. you're smart. that article was a good one and makes the bulldogs look like gods, so until i see the bulldogs play, no comment.

I am going to say this once. If Coach Cuellar is the coach of Edinburg. Edinburg is number one. They lost Esteban Arriola and Jon Chapa but they have the best guard in the valley coming in, Aaron Olvera. Last year Brian Molina (Harl. South) told me he was the best guard in the valley and he wasn't even playing varsity.

Edinburg needs to hire someone who likes to run and gun and play in your face defense to make a smooth transition and avoid stepping on anyones toes. Aaron Olvera is a very good guard and looks very comfortable with his teammates. Chris Flores is one of if not the best overall total package 2 guards in the Valley this year. He has the offense and the defense. Jaime Acuna is deadly inside the arc and is a good rebounder. You add height with Travis East and Al Perez. Then there is still Robert Pimentel, Cord Arriola, Sam and more. What the team lacks right now is a Leader which is important for a team to be successful. Pharr North, South and Harlingen look pretty good so 315A will be cut throat once again.
Weslaco is the real deal. They are playing with conviction in all the tournaments that we have seen so far. If Eddie Cantu stays focused, he will be the best point guard in the Valley this year and he has sidekick defensive specialist Daniel Ryan, plus Marcus Cabrera, Izzy Almazan, Raul Garcia, JT Lopez, Julius Marquez, Anthony, and Eric and then you add Coach Valdez and it spells a great year for the Panthers.
Los Fresnos also have the services of Adrian Perez, Nathan Fletcher, and Mark Burnios just to name a few and are gaining lots of confidence right now and will battle for that 325A district championship spot.
Roma will not be ignored this year. Coach Garr sports one of the tallest and most experienced line ups in the RGV. They bring back 6'4 combo guard Tyler Garcia, 6'2 Julio Garcia (great fundamental player), 6'6 Cornelio Alvarez . They also add 6'5 Eduardo Alanis.
McHi has what it takes to do major damage. They have returning starters 6'3 combo guard Cory Pace, 6'5 J Avila, 6'2 Joseph Pompa plus Hutton Edwards (sharpshooter 11 three pointers in 1 game), 6'5 Ryan Evans, Mark Lopez, and 5'10 Nevin Franks. Nick Garza has been participating in Football so it will be interesting who rounds up the starting 5.
Tournament of Champions will be on August 15 - 17 and our Fall Showcase will be held on September 26 - 28. All teams that participate in our Fall Showcase will be featured on our web site and will have input in the Player Pre-Season Predictions for Top Teams in the District and RGV. We will also have a 3 point Contest. We will only accept 15 Varsity teams for both of these tournaments, so call 956-624-9944 and reserve your spot today.

I know the players like him and it will be a quick and smooth transition. We will just have to wait and see.

It should go to the long time assistant coach, end of story. Weslaco is the real deal? Maybe, or you did mention the coach. They were supposed to make a lot of noise last year, until they were pinched by the district. Add the coach to that one. It is too early to tell but, Roma, Los Fresnos, McHi, and Hanna will be the toughest teams in the valley.

I have past and present players that speak highly of Cuellar so he has support. But its coming down to the hiring committe and Board. What happened to Weslaco last year was unfortunate and is what kept them out of playoffs. It was a hard lesson for all, and many times when you go through hardship you can either break or come back swinging. However it is still early.

I don't think much will change, teams that do well in the summer will do well during the season. Players get a chance to try things during the summer. The really good teams play together and to cement team unity that will carry them during the season. Once school starts, coaches can find out which players have worked to improve and which players have not.
