There's a lot of individual talent on that team. IMO, the key is to get all those superstars to play like a team and that comes not only from the coach, but a strong leader. The problem is that the best player on that team might not be repsected at a personal level nor treated as a leader.
The international playing field is much more level than when the original Dream Team took the gold, but put MJ out there as the coach and you can sit back and watch TEAM USA coast to the gold.

Coach K has my utmost respect. I just don't know if he can get these guys to play together. That really is going to be the key. We know these guys are all great, and hungry for the gold, but can K get them to play together?
Just think about Kobe and Kidd...I foresee the split, if it forms, forming right there.

they BETTER take it. i also don't agree with kidd being on the roster but he's still a very good all around player. if coack k wants to make him into the leader on the floor, they're going to be out before the medal round. since he's there, i think he should be the one on the floor during the dead time when they're up big. that way if things get out of hand he can handle it without having to sub another guard in.

This team is going to kill everyone. Argentina is the only team with a remote chance to get lucky and beat team USA. But that would be a longshot. This team has already showed its dominance at the international level and it looked exciting. K will make them be team players and that is the main reason Kidd is still in there.

That kind of thinking is what got the USA in this trouble of losing these international games in the first place. They need to step up, play together, keep their egos in check and kick a**.

Three pure point guards might be one too many, but there must be some good strategy behind it that we're unaware of. We're loaded with guys that came play point/shooting guard or small forward. Should be fun watchinng play together. Kobe, King James, DWade, Tashuan, and Michael. Power forward looks very strong obviously. Melo should be one of starters along w/ probably Boozer, but I'm sure they will have both Howard and Bosh in at the same quite a bit. Now lets see if they can gel fast enough.

Other than Redd, who else is a pure shooter?? They need some pure shooters who can hit an open jumper. They have scorers and slashers but other than Redd, who could consistently hit an outside jumper?? The other teams play good team defense and collapse on the big men. If USA can't consistently hit an outside jumper, they are going to be in close games. Anything can happen in close games.

Ray Allen should be in there. What about Amare??? This roster can be alot better had they not just chosen just the all-star team.

In international basketball, the other teams play such great "TEAM" ball that an nba all star team has trouble because they are not used to playing together. That and they haven't been able to consistently hit a jumper. Fundamentals kill the USA in international basketball or should I say lack of fundamentals.

Nice team here. It's gonna be a run and gun type of offense. No true center's on the squad. How bout that PG from Boston, he would have been a better choice other that Kidd, unless he is not American.
