San Antonio has 2 major ones, DFW also have one, but Houston has lost theirs. Just wondering what it will ever take for the RGV to attract a group to establish an amusement park such as Six Flags, etc. to open shop in the RGV!! We have over 1,000,000 people in the RGV and Matamoros and Reynosa add another million. Monterrey is a stonethrow away with about 3-5 million and Corpus and Laredo could also give us visitors. Could this ever take place in the RGV???
I finally got on this thing. I needed to download Mozilla Firefox 3.0 in order to get this thing to work for me!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, look at how many malls were getting down here all over the RGV not just in the three major cities. You've just gotta look down the highway to see the explosive growth. And with all that growth a good sized theme park would be a tremendous addition. You go to Fiesta Texas and see boatloads of RGV peeps spending their hard earned cash in SA. that would be easier spent over here if we only had one.
I know infrastructure is a must and may take a while to become reality, but the developers could establish that infrastructure with the help of the TIRZ (Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone).

With the changing demographics and the increased influx of upper/middle class Mexican nationals moving into the area I really don't see the establishment of theme parks that far off- maybe within the next ten years or so. Many people forget, but this area's economy has not been hurt as much as others in the rest of the country....it's still thriving and our housing market is still healthy.

You should see the area South of Mission. Not one house worth under 120,000 cool ones and another two major developments of the sort are just being planned out with over 2,000 lots and each lot selling for 50,000. Add to that the new Anzalduaz International Bridge with a direct Road to Monterrey from Reynosa. I don't know my friends. The builder/developer of this future theme park may very well be a group of Rich Mexican Locals who may see this as a major opportunity to make some serious cash in the regional entertainment arena!!!!

Well the reason I say amusement park possibilities is because when I was a youngster many many moons ago, we would visit a medium sized theme park in Muskegon, Michigan by the West Side of the state. And the population size in that area was nowhere near what we have here in the RGV.

Yep, they tax the heck out of us in SA. Once you stay in a motel/hotel room in SA and you look at the base price and say not too bad, but when they tax that base price it adds about 15-20% more on the price of the room. They(WE) are paying for the Alomodome/Basketball Arena with car rentals/ and hotel accommodations. How 'bout that!! Outsiders paying for your major entertainment venues. Great concept and idea.

also welcome prophet it took you a while but you made it. Thanks... I was like the lost ugly duckling that nobody wanted to be associated with!! Shoot me some pms when you get the scoop on this team we both go watch. Big time expectations for this coaching staff. The talent is there at most of the skill positions. And talent with speed to burn.
