Lots of questions about this list. Metallica #6? ? Give me a break. They should be #2 behind Black Sabbath if not #1. Is Van Halen even considered Heavy Metal??? Rush??? Pantera #21 and behind Guns and Roses? ? Where is Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue?

That's a good point. The was metal and then there was/is heavy metal. I think it made a change in the mid/early 80's when the big hair bands started. ACDC changed when Bon Scott swallowed his tongue and Brian Johnson. They've done well since. Ronnie James Dio had some great ones when he went off on his own and Ozzie as well. Kiss music still sucks. Def retard still blows. Saw Bon Jovi when he opened for the Scorps and haven't change my opinion of him much. He still sucks. Guns and posers showed up along with Motley crud. Priest had a few good tunes. Metallica? Never liked them. I think the Sandman song is ok.
Anyone remember Thin Lizzy or Aerosmith?
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I don't think Alice in Chains, Faith no More and Motley Crue are Heavy metal bands either, too much commercialized music. Might as well add Korn and Linkin Park to the list. Where would you put Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Who, Nazareth, Mahogany Rush, Uriah Heep, Slayer, Pat Travers and on and on. All That Remains is pretty good. Not much into heavy metal now a days anyways, but I've had my fair share.

I was at F.Y.E. and they had linkin park CDs in they heavy metal section. Last time i checked, they were alternative, i don't think they've changed genres and if they did i don't know why because there minutes to midnight CD is more of a Pop CD much less heavy metal

Motley Crue's first 2 albums Too Fast For Love and Shout at the Devil are their best, are classic albums, and IMO is Heavy Metal. Anything after that is like you say commercialized. Same with Faith No More. Anything after The Real Thing is commercialized. Same thing with Alice in Chains except they mellowed out after their first couple of albums. As with most bands, Metallica included, they change as they grow up and get older and mature. That and the almighty $$$$$. Classic Heavy Metal right here IMO. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjh562Kwul4

This is the best War Pigs cover ever. And there has been alot of them. A band called Sacred Reich in the late 80's covered War Pigs and did good job also. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cALQdWTuc7g
