Yep, harlingen vs mchi has my vote. I mean not too mention the game itself and what the teams bring to the table, but its a great coaching match up too. Harris vs Gomez.

i'd pick EE vs cal, but idk if it's going to live up to the hype...i hope it does......i honestly hope EE wins (despite what i've said before) but this matchup has two big time valley teams going head to head to start it off.......easily the game of the week......

I voted for EE Callalen, because I think EE is gonna win, and thats why it will be a bigger game than McHi Harlingen,
I mean if you think about it, there are 3 marquee games this week
McHi-Harlingen, 2 of the oldest in the valley, and this year they both have stellar teams. The McHi offense vs. the Harlingen D? its nuts!
EE-Callalen, E-E has a solid team this year, they usually start the year off in good form, and they are taking on a team that no one from the valley has ever beaten. If this is any other year, no one is talking about anything but this game!
Mercedes-Port Lavaca-Calhoun, ohhhhh by the way, Mercedes is playing in the Alamodome in the Dave Campbell Classic against a pretty evenly matched PLC squad... no real reason to cause a fuss right? I mean Mercedes is just representing the valley for all of us!

wouldn't you say that's what EE is trying to do also? if EE takes it, it'll be remembered as one of the greatest wins......but right now i can see mchi/harlingen potentially being the bigger game as far as entertainment value is concerned

you comparing mercedes game to EE's?
I think EE's game is bigger for those in South Texas, but Mercedes' game is big for those around the state. I hope that Mercedes' coaches explain to their kids that they aren't just playing for Mercedes up there, but that they are playing for the Valley, and we are all pulling for them to get a W. I would like to see both EE and Mercy win, but I really hope that Mercedes wins so that the valley gets a little confidence heading into the playoffs.

yes, for the teams that make it past the second round... Callalen is a bigger monster to valley teams, but only 1 team, maybe 2 will face them... however, teams that advance beyond the second round and opt to play in bigger stadiums upstate will see that they can play at these avenues where the pressure is immensely bigger than a regular season game at Callalen
