Some of the players are... The others were playing with their HS varsity squad... I just got word that they lost by 1 to advance to the Championship game 63-62... Keep your heads up and learn from the experience... Way to represent the Area...

Set shot we tried the AAU Nationals in Orlando a few years back. It is a competitive but very expensive tourney especially after Main Event and does not draw the amount of college scouts that Vegas does. Just a fan we have stayed for both tournaments in Vegas the past 3 years, but work would not allow me to stay for 12 days this year. We did good considering the pool that we were placed in. Due to our last years teams success in the main event and youth nationals we were placed in pool f which has been the best pool we have ever been in in the 17U division. Our first game was against the Lynx. We went back and forth but fell by 10 at the end. Coach Schuberth amongst others was in attendance. Then we played Canada elite and we beat them by 30. We later played Memphis who was filled with Division 1 verbals and they took it to us and beat us by almost 30. Finally we played Illinois Old School and lost by 2. Overall they played good and tied the 1 and 3 Main Event record of the class of 2006 & 2007. Our 2 most successful Stallion teams have been the class of 2005 and 2008 (3 - 1 record in Vegas 17U - platinum and 3-2 NBA - Sweet 16) and a huge part was the amount of years together as a team and the 2 to 3 years competing in Vegas b4 their final campaign. These guys did exceptionally well considering the only junior that had already competed in Vegas was Cory Pace. We could have used 1 more big guy for boards. Our class of 2011 went to Vegas and received great experience and should be the next Stallion team to make some noise. I have coached since 1996 and I am going to continue assisting players from the south improve by hosting tournaments and staying involved with the recruiting and ranking process with the top sites in Texas. The Stallions is going to keep going strong but officially I am done coaching AAU basketball. I want to thank all of the players that I have had the privilege of coaching as well as the high school head coaches that have supported us through the years. I want to encourage you to do keep doing so. The Stallion goal since day 1 was to help players from the South and that will continue to happen. Coach Al Gatling and Jamison Holmes will remain coaching and if there are any other coaches interested in making a difference please call 956-624-9944 for more information.
