Seems to me like you might be a little out of practice Red, with all this weather we have had I think you might have lost your touch. I'll tell you what, I will give up a day and tag along with you on a trip just to see if you can get back in the groove, hey I'll even buy the snacks.

It takes more than a couple of weeks to get me out of my groove. About the only thing that takes me a while after being off the water so long is finding out where the fish are. But I've got plent of guide friends that I can call to get reports. ;D

Thats not the answer I was looking for my friend. I might have to start a smear campaign against you and tell everyone that you are a croaker soaker. LOL

Croaker soakers should be shot to death!!!!!!! But you know, soaking a pin fish or a finger mullet every now and then is very productive.

In my book, it's better to be a croaker soaker than a croaker poker.

Does anybody have any good fresh water fishing holes in the valley? I know there has to be some good spots out there.

Well after a little over 3 weeks off the water, I was looking forward to getting the line wet. I took a couple from Edinburg, Greg and Celinda Palacios. Everything started off well. We were at the dock at around 6:15 and ready to see what the day had in store. As I was waiting for Greg to return from the truck, my warning buzzer went off. Didn't think much of it since it happens on occasion whenever I leave the motor too high up. As I go to lower the power-lift, I notice no water coming out of the motor. You guessed it. My water pump seems to gave called it quits. Not a good situation w/ clients on board! Knowing there was no use in trying to do anything about it, I decided to call a friend who had called me the night before wanting for me to go w/ him if I didn't have a charter. He was about to leave the dock from SPI. Being the friend that he is, soon after he was on his way to the Adolph T. County park dock. I loaded my boat and parked it at a friend's lodge. We finally make our way out to the bay around 8:00am. The water was high and very dirty. The entire arroyo looked like chocolate milk. I moved along in search of clear water hoping to find fish holding in there. No much success in that. We tried several areas w/ not much action. This time of the year, a lot of trout hold along the inter-coastal, but seeing how dirty the water was I didn't bother fishing the ditch. I moved several times, but could not locate good numbers of reds. As I moved along, I would spot one or two several hundred yards apart, but nothing worth stopping. My clients had to be back by noon, so we headed back to the dock at around 11:45am. Not a stellar day by any means. Only 3 keeper trout were had for all our effort. Definitely not the kind of day I was looking forward to after a long absence. Oh well, at least it wasn't a zero fish day. Not a great report, but it is what it is.

TAKE ME FISHING FOR BULL REDS! i want to catch 30 plus inch redfish!!! Not the best time for bull reds right now. Oct - Dec are excellent months for them. Dont get me wrong. They can be caught, but they are not as many around during the summer months.
