guys i am just letting you know that ill be leaving out of town... i have to go buy groceries witht he wifa and will not be here for a few hours... ill be going to HEB and maybe thye have some free wifi i can use to stay in touch... anyway ill be back in a few.. just wanted to let you know....   |

its in b-town off 802 and paderes line road... about a 10 drive... not far at all... thats why LF is so adimently against any chain like walmart, Heb or any other large retailer... you have everything close by... i myself would perfer going to SB cause the lines are smaler and you dont get all the matamoros traffic ... not a racist... they just make parking and checkouts a hassle/..

I know LF isn't that big (population-wise), but i'm surprised they don't have an HEB considering the amount of traffic they get b/c of the beach.

actully if you think about it ... it make a lot of sense. when they built the HEB on 802 they(the powers that be) took Lf into acount and zoned the city into its share market.. and the SB HEB probly took into account the North LF rural section into its market... if any HEB would be built between those two locations it would steal the every day traffic($$$$) that bothof these stores use... both stores will suffer and sales would drop at least in the SB store... B-town is growing and may not need the LF market to compete with other stores(sales wise) but the SB would take a huge loss... and would not see a gowth like N b-town is seeing to compensate for its future progress....
so for the most part LF is stuck in no mans laand and ppl here seem to like it.... plus i believe HEB has stopped building small stores.. thier main goal is to compete with Walmart (foodwise) the small stores that were opened up in the late eighties and ninties have sence been closed down and mads way for the new superstore HEB's... even west valley is starting to see these Plus stores popping up... LF wuold need a small store in order for it to be productive... building a regular superstore(not a plus) would not be cost effective.. yes we see a lot of traffic in ghte weekends and ppl would stop to buy here rather than at PI were prices are a bit inflated but the PI HEB would fight tooth and nail b/c they too would lose business... and in the corprate world you dont want to destabalize whats arleady good business...

a couple more fast food places (besides DQ Stars and Subway) would help things out and make more people stop in LF besides for being pulled over...

The walmart here on Boca Chica is packed with matamoros plates. Plus they leave the shelfs all messed up and make that new walmart so messy. Sucks because they think they can come over here and treat it like Mexico  |
