There's a movie that came out in the 70s called Luciano. It's considered the best biopic about Lucky Luciano who was hands down the most famous/badass/polarizing gangster in american history.

Most of the good ones have already been mentioned. A Bronx Tale was pretty good. I thought it was pretty neat considering is was something of an autobiography of Chaz Palminteri's childhood.
