Just heard some bad news from tonights 7 on 7 in Harlingen.Supposedly Mercedes was whoopin on Harlingen Cards and they were actually starting the fights against several Tiger players.Raymondville And Rio Hondo were backing up Harlingen. The Cops had to be called to escort the Tigers from Harlingen.Talk about poor sportsmanship.

Wow, I need more info on this too. I think I will make some calls. I do know that from the past games I have seen with Harlingen, that their guys play with alot of spirit, but then again so do the Mercedes players.

Just spoke to the Jerry Jones of Mercedes 7 on 7 and everything is cool. The Tigers kept their cool last night and didnt do anything stupid. The kids are ready to go and they are leaving for Waco this morning.
Also found out that Temple backed out of the tourney to allow yet another Valley Team, Sharyland, to enter. Mercedes plays Sharyland in the first game.
Good luck tigers last chance at State.

Nothing happened... I should be left at a simple misunderstanding.

I heard it was just an exchange of words...it wasn't a big deal. I don't know. That's what I heard but I could be wrong.

Sort of right. The game was tied at 26 a piece when it all started. Harlingen had just missed an PAT, when a couple of guys from Mercedes mouthed off to our reciever Leo G.(Basically everyone was running their mouths), Leo gets pretty mad, confronts them and I guess more words are exchanged. The next thing I know kids from both sides rush to break it up and then the game is called off. I usually dont complain about officating, but it seemed that the refs had a bias towards Mercedes. All in all, both sides displayed poor signs of sportsmanship. As for the cops being called, not sure I left when the most of the Cardinals were leaving in their cars.

this happens alot. football is a contact sport, and you try to get your kids to be as aggressive as they can be. then in the summer you tell them to play football without contact and the aggression has to come out somewhere, so they all run their mouths and get in each other's faces. it just makes for a better game if the 2 schools play each other.

Why don't they realize that when they grow older they will be able to bond and co-exist with their neighboring communities in the Valley. Also, all of these silly rivalrys that existed in high-school will long since be a thing of the past. Right guys?
