PI is the only team i think in valley that can compete They have the experience at coaching at that type of level. And everytime we lose in the 3rd round we always get out-coached.

Maybe PI, RH, of LV. And I wouldn't put money on it. Only saying this because they have a shorter(i think) amount of games to get their and not as mch comp as 5A or 4A. But getting past Cuero and Cal and all those teams won't happen. First off, the amount of games to reach the finals is the same in 3A 4A or 5A ranks And as being not much of competition in the 3A playoffs as in the 5A or 4A ranks? well lets see...Taking out PI of the equation the RGV 32-3A Since 2000 (7yrs) dist. 32-3A has a playoff record of 11-16, and no one has gotten to the 3rd round while the RGV 5A ranks have reached the 3rd round 15 times since 2000 looks like its much tougher in 3A come playoff time ;-) Back to the question/poll I'd say PI and EE... not sure about this year, but they seem right there recently (as in the last decade or so) with PI losing to the eventual state champ in '02 by 3pts and being Region IV champs in '03; EE has been making it competitive with always region IV fav. Calallen as of late too!

maybe the 3a teams just aren't as strong as the 5a teams come playoff time.

maybe the 3a teams just aren't as strong as the 5a teams come playoff time. i'd say in the last couple of years about equal to the 5A ranks... that is if you are referring to the 3A not reaching the 3rd round the last 7yrs (except for PI like i had mentioned) if the 3A had two playoff games against another valley team, well eventually there will still be a valley rep in the 3rd round as is the case in some of the rgv 5A pairings.

And the record for 3A agaiisnt teams outside the valley in playoffs.

2003 (3A-Div II) PI 28, Orange Grove 0 (bi-district) PI 35, Hondo 20 (area) PI 35, Liberty Hill 27 (regional semifinals) PI 63, Rice Consilidated 61 (quarterfinals; 4OT) Marlin 41, PI 10
i hate to post this...i mean being that a team like lopez has never even experienced this sort of success...BUT as you can see it was FIVE rounds to get to that semi final game...meaning one remained ....the state final...
5+1=6
