Valley Morning Star
ELSA - Edcouch-Elsa head football coach Joe Solis is bringing the Super Bowl to the Delta Area. Solis and his coaching staff are organizing the first-ever Rio Grande Valley 7-on-7 Super Bowl on Saturday, July 5 at Yellowjacket Stadium in Elsa. The event will be a 16-team tournament of Valley teams. This is not a state qualifier tournament. It's simply a chance to give Valley schools another opportunity to play this summer. "We would like to keep this event going in years to come," Solis said. "We can even rotate (which stadium hosts) every year." Every team that participates will be guaranteed five games in the one-day event. Games will start at 9 a.m. and teams will be placed in pools. Some teams have already registered but there's still room. Notable teams registered to play include E-E, Weslaco, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel and Edinburg North. Anyone one interested in playing can contact Justin Solis at 956-207-1877 or Joe Solis at 956-239-2063.

Well so far there are 5 teams that have signed up. Mercedes is a no show so far so let's see if they end up signing up. If they really want a piece of La Maquina then they won't avoid this tourney.

Why is everybody so eager to see the Mercedes/E-E 7on7 game? Mercedes couldn't even beat weslaco.

Why is everybody so eager to see the Mercedes/E-E 7on7 game? Mercedes couldn't even beat weslaco. Mercy fans are the one's that all worked up about this match. Some of the E-E fans are starting to tease them about it because of their, "we've lost to teams you beat, but we haven't lost to you" mentality. It just baffles me...

You cant say me cause i can care less LOL couldn't care less ..?? Sure crazy, when mercedes beat weslaco at 7on7 a while back we never heard the end of it. You sure were quiet this time around when the tables turned at the mission sqt, and the tigers came out on the losing end. We didn't even make such a big deal about it like you do. I can only imagine if mercedes were to beat ee in 7on7, for sure we'd never hear the end of it. You'd be the first one in here talking it up.
