Hmmm....I like the whole I,I-stack....but seriously. Stumbaugh has grown too comfortable with this offense. I feel that he needs to incorporate a bit more different formations in his scheme. I know it's more of an option-I attack if anything else, but with Demoss at the reins...why not gunsling it??
Against Harlingen....PI will have to be more resourceful.
Harlingen is going to BRING PRESSURE as much as possible. I would like to see PI do some screens and quick passes to exploit this. I feel if PI can nickel and dime them...then go vertical in the passing game...PI will come out with the "W".
I still think Harlingen is going to outdo PI tho....6-3 in game-situations.

Not just PI....but everyother team in the valley. I was simply talking about them because I'm more familiar with them.

People in the stands were yelling at him to run the shotgun. They were tired of the I as well.

The shotgun of course is to accomodate a strong rush, but being a scrimmage you got to stick with what you are testing. That is what scrimmages are for.

I know the coaches had a game plan they wanted to stick to, but come regular season I hope they'll adjust sooner.

I know the coaches had a game plan they wanted to stick to, but come regular season I hope they'll adjust sooner. Well it has been typical of the chess playing with players for PI under Stumbaugh. If you look back the 2004 team was one of the few teams that started strong from day one under him. This group still had some good players from the 2002 and 2003 team. I feel next year that should be the case and have a very solid experienced team. But this year nevertheless a good team should emerge once all the adjustments are made. As much as there is talent coming up they have to adjust to a mix with the upper classmen once done PI will do fine. Stumbaugh just is a very methodical type of coach in the sense of putting the team together. Teams like EE just have their team pretty ready from the beginning. Harlingen looks good as was being said of their defense with the defensive Coach Gomez. They were fired up and ready for this scrimmage.

On my previous message just want to add I did not mean other coaches are not methodical of their game plan and assembling of players positions, but more of what has been characterstic of Stumbaugh early in the season. I guess it is still too early to know if it is true or not of this year.

PIs O will be just fine once they get use to each other, its the D that needs to be our strength so we can win any kind of championship

The O-line looked worrisome, honestly. D looked alright (except the secondary)

The good thing though was that it was just a scrimmage. Scrimmages are done to evaluate how your defense and offense are progressing. That's it. No more no less. It's nice to score more than the other team but it's just for evaluation.

Question, has PI ever had a west coast type of offense? I know when we used to play them it's was strictly running except for a few passes on 3rd and long situations.
