Hey guys, I need some help with my laptop.
Today when I powered on my pc the screen was black with only the curser working. Ctrl + alt + del don't respond either.
I did some research and it seems I need the Windows XP Repair Install CD, and I don't have it!
Anyone out there know anything about this?
I'm on my blackberry, so shoot me an email or hit me up on yahoo IM.

do you have access to another computer?
you can download an xp torrent
also, what brand is your computer, and how old is it?

does it say windows when you start up. if so then have you tried safe mode?
you can then do a system recovery to a previous day when it was in working order.

I do get the windows start up screen, and then the screen goes black with only the pointer on the screen... It does the same in safe mode it just says "safe mode" on the corners.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000, got it in January 2007, Windows XP Media Edition.
I'm not able to do any type of restore, I guess I need the Windows Disk to do a "Repair".

Most Dell's come with a restore paartition on the HDD. When you first start the computer, hold ctrl+F11. If it has a partition, that will boot it up to restore it. If not, find someones computer that has a burner, and download a Windows XP sp2.iso from www.thepiratebay.org

I tried ctrl + F11, and Negative...
And unfortunately, I don't have another computer available where I can download off piratesbay...

all you need is some penut butter, a fork and pheonix feather.
oooh and a kimono dragon to spit its magical acid spit on your keyboard. (that sounds ugly).
or maybe some one is playing a trick on you and deleated all the icons on desktop, and draged the start menu off the screen and locked your right click button. BASTARDS.

I got it guys.... I had to do what Lemon_Fresh said and went with the restore partition on the HDD. The bad thing is that I lost everything, family pics, videos, music, programs.... it sux.
But the good news is that I have access to the forum, and that was my #1 concern!!!
Thanks for all the help!

your welcome!
sorry about the loss of stuff. Happened to me, and the wife got pissed lol
I have since invested in two 500GB external HDD's that contain nothing except music, vids, pics, and programs that I need.

I wish I would have gotten on here earlier. I could have fixed it for you. With just a blinking cursor, your registry got discombobulated. You might try running check disk (chkdsk) to make sure your hard drive doesn't have bad sectors. I can recover some or most of your stuff that you lost, but it takes quite a bit of time and it'll cost you (sorry).
