1 Quarter - Second team offense's Shary 14 Wes 6
4 Quarters - First team offenses's Wes 20 Shary 17
Overall i really liked what i saw out of the offense, weslaco has alot of horses back there in the stable. Mike did a real good job out there at his new position ;D. Marcus C. had a few nice grabs. Roland and eric looked really good too, tough running tonight. Even some of the sophmores got their feet wet and did a pretty good job. Rojas got us on the board first with the second team.
We had a few ints in the redzone that no doubt left points off the board. Defense didn't start out so good, but once they settled down they did a real good job. For the last 2 qtrs it was mainly a back and forth defensive battle.
Shary looked pretty good, they got a decent defense that made the stops when they really needed to out there, and their offense is pretty balanced with the run and the pass. Gotta tough rb, think that was scottie. All and all you could see in spurts what this panther team is capable of but they still have alot of work too do. Thats what scrimmages are for to evaluate and see where the team is at. I like these real game type scrimmages better then the controlled ones. Must say it was a pretty entertaining scrimmage. We'll see how they do next wk.

Was there any standouts in the game wp2003? everyone in the backfield stood out to me. the receivers really looked good tonight on their route running. i still think they need to be a little more aggressive in going up and getting the ball but we looked really good at the skill positions. the line blew me away pretty much all night but there were a few plays that just left me shaking my head. i know the line will gain consistency as the season goes. that's the brightest spot for us right now i think

I was planning on attending but I had a sudden change of plans. So what are the areas that we need work on?

So what are the areas that we need work on? we just need to officially settle the corner situation. everything else is right there man. omar looked good at corner and so did danny, but they're both a little small. they're good cover guys but the run is where i worry about them. other than that everything is good.

the defense really stepped up late in the scrimmage. it just seemed like it took them awhile to realize how good they actually are. towards the end of the scrimmage there was some serious hitting going on. mel probably had the best highlights of the night with some big hits, but everyone was getting after it pretty good tonight

he's in that league warrior. he's a big time hitter and he has a nose for the ball. great speed and great quickness. he's also a very good leader. most of the guys look up to him on the team, not just on the defense. he should have a great year this year.

I was planning on attending but I had a sudden change of plans. Defense gave up some big plays, nothing more frustrating then having our oppt in a 3rd and long situation and for them to convert a first down on a long run or pass. Gotta continue to work on protecting the pass, and also on run defense we weren't rapping up, too many missed tackles. Though like i mentioned once the d settled in, they did improve as the game went on, but it still needs to be addressed and worked on. Special teams is also something that really stood out that needs to improve. Fg kicker needs alot of work. As we all know in those big games we can't afford to miss those xpts, every point counts. Special teams, punting/kicking/xpt game in general needs working on. Offensively our wr's need to be more agressive in trying to get open and going after that ball. Oline looked good, but could be better. At times the pocket would collapse and dylan was left back there scrambling for his life. Though he'd make the best of it, picked up a few first downs on just tucking the ball and running it. Also too many penalties/turnovers, we gotta clean that up. But overall it was a good first scrimmage. I liked the effort we put out there, see if we can work on some of these things and have an even better showing at next wks' scrimmage.

Mel for some reason reminds me of roy williams. Kid just loves to hit people. lol yeah. Oddly enough he wears the #31 just like roy williams. WELL till recently, now that roy changed it. But like wp mentioned hes not as bad protecting against the pass lol, he did a good job out there last night. lol man there was this one play where sharys rb weaved through the first layer of defenders then found himself in the middle of the field, where he just literally ran into a brick wall, and was just pounded to the ground. You knew right away who that was. Mels a beast.
