What the heck is going on? My bill went from $150 one month to $322 the next. That's more than double the previous amount. It's bad enough with gas prices but now our electricity. Jeez......

Try not to adjust the AC as much and buy those other light bulbs.....the one that are twisted. All that makes a difference.

Mobe the AC within 3 degrees ONLY! I was watching on ch.4 or 5 and they were saying that alot of people change the temperature really fast to hot or cold...and that makes the bill go up really high. I keep mine at 70-73 and its cool enough. Try that and see if it helps a little.

that's too bad......we can water the grass and plants all day and night if we want to.....i've been wanting to see if i can run a line from the well into the house through a filtering process or something. idk if it's possible but if it is that would end our water payment i think.....

I noticed on my billing statements from Magic Valley, they have increased enormously.
One of the things Magic Valley stated on the bill"Due to increase of natural gas..."along with a chart not accoiated by anyone & some other BS that does nessarily apply to the increase. Not to mention, some common sense tips.
As far as the different lightbulbs;they will decrease your bill by roughly $55-$65.If you want a set for the whole house, were looking @ $60 & it's worth it.
Have a friend who is with Commernce(butt.w/C.P.L).At most his bill increased from $98 to $151.A tip is what is mentioned above from the others,do not mess with thermometer.

Mine also went up.
Nothing can be done, we will not win trying to argue with them.
It's unfortunate that these companies do this to families.
Here is a breakdown of my bills over the years since I purchased my home:
July 2003 bill: $200 August 2003 bill: $180
July 2004 bill: $380 (purchased AC (Carrier 16 seer), after I realized current unit went bad causing high bills.) August 2004 bill: $215 (next month after installing new AC.)
July 2006 bill: $300 August 2006 bill: $250
July 2007 bill: $230 August 2007 bill: $255
July 2008 bill: $445
As you can see, this 'racket' is common place and there is NOTHING we can do about this.
What troubles me more is that if it makes a dent in my budget (I make an ok living with my wife, both college educated, good salaries, etc), how is it affect my mom who makes $9 an hour living alone, my aunt who is a single parent working for 10 dollars an hour, etc.
There needs to be conceded effort, by many, to plan, and monitor meters and measure usage, etc. We could complain until we're blue in the face, but if you don't have 'facts', 'evidence', then nothing will get done.

My electric bill went up about 2 months ago and it turns out that the contract I was under, for a set number of price per kilowatt, had expired and the company I was with had the right to jack up the price. So long story short, I searched for the best price and had to get into another contract with a different company. I won't make the same mistake of letting my contract expire when it gets close to summer.
