Your thoughts how this will affect the Football team?
(This is a HS thread, if it were an 'academic' forum, I'd post about how it would affect academics)

Maybe it will be a plus for them with no classroom distractions, they can concentrate on practicing.

it shouldn't affect the football team at all unless they're not going to be allowed to practice because of this (which i know won't happen in PI).

Could have a neagtive effect as well... Once preseason training is over, the teams are limited to a certain number of hours per week. So PI will only be able to practice once-a-day for those two weeks. That's a LOT of unnecessary free time for a high-school getting ready for football, if you know what I mean.

It should be a good thing for the football players given that the players of this years team are focused and dedicated to the season and sport. If thats the case then that means more time for those players to condition themselves, get more weightroom time in,and of course lots more practice even if they are limited physically they still will have more time to study formations etc..but all this of course given that the athletes are dedicated

They are just going to be watching extra film, working out extra, eating extra, running extra sprints just to get a head start on the Yellowjackets. I think they planned all this Dolly thing just to get those extra two weeks. Can you smell the conspiracy. Something smells fishy around here. Nah, I guess those are just the breaks. Enjoy it PI. Enjoy it! We'll see ya soon!

Start of school delayed in Port Isabel
By LAURA B. MARTINEZ The Brownsville Herald
PORT ISABEL — Hurricane Dolly has pushed back the start of school for students living in the Point Isabel Independent School District. The first day of school is set for Sept. 8, two weeks later than the original Aug. 25 start date. This was the first time in recent years when all Rio Grande Valley schools were to have the same start date. The Sept. 8 start will not affect any University Interscholastic League activities such as football, a school official said. Football practice for Valley high schools began Monday. Schools in Port Isabel received major water and wind damage and the district is in the process of drying them out, removing tiles and disinfecting the buildings. “Although immediate remediation was implemented to rectify the damages and ensure that our facilities have a safe learning and teaching environment, the process has delayed our school’s start date,” a district news release states. Because of the damage, registration and student schedule pick-ups have been switched to the parish hall at Our Lady of the Sea Parish, 705 S. Longoria St., beginning Monday. For registration schedule, see valleystar.com

this can be really good or really bad,
I HOPE that the players are smart, if they just spend, one extra hour a day to practice amongst themselves, with passing routes, blocking schemes and defensive coverages, these extra two weeks off could have them in midseason form by the time of the first game...
or they could be lazier than they would have been and end up in worse condition
