Anybody see this on Yahoo Sports? Some coaches from a high school in California have supposedly developed the offense of the future -- the A-11 offense. The article makes it sound like it is going to revolutionize the game. The reason being that any player can be an eligible receiver just by shifting on or off the line of scrimmage. (remember, only 5 players can be eligible for a pass and 7 players must be on the line of scrimmage). Does that mean they plan to do away with linemen? Or will the linemen have eligible jersey numbers and actually go out for passes themselves? If this picks up, I wonder if we could see a major change in the football rules to counter this offense? highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=825031a11offense.com/

I think this would be great where you had a lot of different sized players. The valley has smaller player than most and you could easily matchup size for size. This would be great to run against San Antonio teams.

Has anyone ever used it here in the valley??? i used it last year in my little league team!!! they stole my offense...actually it's pretty old. some of the coaches at weslaco high school called it the "6 out" offense. one of the coaches there who used to coach at a&m kingsville some years back used it back then. i have video to prove i used it....i'll see if i can post it so you guys can see it.

Yay, another gimmick offense with more opportunities for DBs and LBs to obliterate WRs and QBs.

tarpons, it makes it a little harder for the db's and lb's to get to the skill guys on offense...it's a lot more wide open than a spread offense and makes for some interesting matchups on the field.....you could end up with a defensive end trying to cover a WR in the flats......

You may have used it WP, but did you make your own website publicizing it?

it really does serve the purpose that the "creators", and i use that term very litely, say it does. spreading out the field like that allows for all sorts new looks at traditional plays. i ran a counter, option (very easy to run out of this formation), draw, screens were very easy to run, also you can set up a double swinging gate formation from this and kill the defense..

I think you're missing the bigger picture of what this offense is trying to present. What you're thinking about was probably a trick play or maybe something you would run for a series. What these coaches from california are pawning off is an offense package. Not a couple of offensive plays with a formation variation.

no old buzzard, this was his offense, not some gimmick play....it's what he used. he was all over it when i showed it to him. he told me how he ran a bunch of his plays, how to block it, how to set up the formation for the best results.....he knew all about it....

Well, I guess no matter how you reinvent the wheel, it still has to be round.
