The losses that have come against Callalen have been due to mental breakdowns. I remember the 97 game on first kickoff return EE recieves and we try a reverse when they had never done that before. PLayers looked confused. from there on it's down hill. On defense our players are shifting back and forth, they never did that before. They changed the game plan. Many players as well as EE fans placed Callalen on a petastal and gave them so much respect that it played onto the minds of our players. But it is different now. I think after Callalen stooped so low and desperate that they had to use trickery to beat EE in 2004, it left a bitter taste in our mouths. This was evident when EE beat GP the following year/the coastal bend curse in our minds was wiped, not by GP but by your cowardice trickery. EE continues to respect Callalen but not the way they use to. The petastal has been cut and now we see callalen not above us but eye to eye. "stooped so low and desperate" to use "trickery" and "cowardice trickery".........maybe the big difference is that Calallen can try new things during a game and they actually work. If a reverse on the opening kickoff doesn't work and it ruins your whole game, or your players inability to adapt when necessary seems to me to be something EE needs to address. If the reverse on kickoff or all the defensive shifting would have worked, would it have been "cowardice trickery"? I think not. I would call it "EXECUTION". The difference between winning and losing often comes down to which team can execute the plays when they are most needed. Now truthfully, do you think the play you are referring to was a result of Calallen's timing and execution, or was it a result of EE's not being prepared? You call it whatever you want, I call it a win. Fair and square. Cats move on and La Maquina goes home. And as far as EE putting Calallen on a pedestal, that's EE's doing. Calallen never asked or demanded to be put on a pedestal. And your victory over GP the following year has absolutely NOTHING to do with Calallen. You can respect Calallen or not, doesn't matter. All I can tell you is that when you play the Cats, you better bring everything you got and prepare for everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING.

It is not an excuse. They beat EE. I am just saying that before 2004 EE held Callalen at a different level. I feel that many players felt intimidated by Callalen's status. This by no mean is a negative on Callalen they built a reputation same as EE has against Valley 4A opponents. Last year we played in several close games in which some believed that EE should have lost but EE won. I guess you could say that they choked/didn't execute in the last qtr. But we will see.

it wasn't trickery though, it was a play that had been used for a long time.....a lot of people run it....should've been ready.....

EE has been plenty capable of beating us on occasions (93, 04) but as we know all too well (93-97 vs la marque), sometimes coulda woulda shoulda dont necessitate an excuse, just a general acceptance and prepare for another year.

Beating Calallen and ruining their homecoming after two decades of humiliation is the sweetest win in this schools history. Doing it again the very next year when they are bent on revenge is pretty dang close. Oh, the question is present tense.... It goes without saying. It is in the DNA of every Hornet. This year FB should be very competitive. on the flip side, before these past 4 years i can't even remember what transpired in a game against FB. They've come a long way, but their 2 year renaissance has come to a screeching halt. getting a win or two is uplifting doing consistently or at least every other year demands status. even gp hasn't done that to us since mid 80s to early 90s. but as they will say they hold the overall record that dates back to 1960 something! but in 23 years danaher has managed to close it to 6 more games to tie.

Don't remind me. Those were two painful years for La Maquina. But I feel we are getting close so let's see how this year plays out.
