I was just wondering since we already form and played the very 1st 7 on 7 Super Bowl. If the valley will ever form a Valley Football Classic just like the one they hold in San Antonio every year when the season starts. I think it would be a big draw especially if you invite teams from CC and Laredo area or even the SA area to come. Think about it 1 game on Friday and 3 on Saturday. it would be an instant Classic from the get go. I know there were 3 teams from the CC area calling Coach Solis about the Super bowl before all the rescheduling.

I'm not sure I completely understand what a Valley Football Classic would be exactly, but from the bits I could gather and the excitement, it sound like it would be a great thing if it could be done.

centralized location profe......it'd either be there or donna....seeing as how they're the only one's that can handle the crowds something like this would bring. although mcallen would probably be the best for this kind of thing....

Who exactly does have the best stadium as far as seating and playing field? I played for little Ole' Santa Rosa so I wouldn't know.

Ok guys here's the scoop on this topic.
There is a group of investors that are bringing down the "South Texas Classic". The group is headed by a guy named John Weaver. The group is from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They approached Weslaco and Weslaco East about using Bobby Lackey Stadium as it's centralized site. Here's where it gets tricky - from my understanding Weslaco wanted to be part of it but East could not agree on dates/opponents. Well in Weslaco if one school gets something the other school must get the same thing. Everyone knows that. Consequently, Weslaco High and East were left out. Now, the group ended up going to Mario Pena in San Benito where he quickly jumped on it. Now here's another tricky situation, these investors came after the new realignment was done so in essence none of the teams that are being invited wanted to get out of their committments to the other schools. So...from my understanding the South Texas Classic will be happening BUT with local schools competing. In the next couple of years (or the next realignment) teams from the Dallas area will be coming down to play Valley schools. First schools coming down will be from the Garland area.
If you have any other questions I'll try to answer them.

E-E field when I played there it sucked! Freakin sand pits all over the field I think it would just add to the atmosphere. You know, make it part football game, part obstacle course. Just think, during halftime we could fill in one of those "sand pits" and have female mud wrestling as an added attraction. EE gets my vote!

I always think of Comalander stadium in San Antonio. It's not huge, but it just has this big game atomposhere....
