The fact that we came so close last year and with all our core players coming back, I see our kids with an "this year we're gonna kick the door in attitude" which we have not had in MERCEDES since COACH CASAS was here. And by the way, CHAVEZ IS THE REAL DEAL. And first hand knowledge tells me he has gotten over his sophomoric mistakes in the classroom and will really shine this year.

Are you sure about that Buzzard? I have a buddy from Mercy and he said that Chavez isn't going to be the starting QB next year due various conduct issues. He said that they are looking to replace Chavez with a sophomore stud QB that has good talent on and off the field. Not sure how credible this info is but he said he heard it from some of the coaches. Besides I think you all are better off with a QB that you know will perform well in the class room and on the field. Remember what happened to Mercy last year. They had to go about 3 or 4 games without him and a team can't be successful without their QB being there for the entire season. |

well we know the valley will get to the 3rd round for sure...but I would go with a 3A-1A team to go the furthest! FYI,5A valley teams will be facing a SA school,sooner than the 3rd round. The UIL moved S.A Southwest to district 29-5A with the Laredo Schools.An interesting note is that Southwest finished their season 11-1 & their only loss was to eventual state finalist Converse Judson (16-24)in the second round. |
