Anderson "The Spider" Silva is gonna move up to fight James 'The Sandman' Irvin in the light heavyweight division. Spike will show the fight tommorrow the 19th. Brandon Vera will also be fighting  nice! |

In what was his most impressive performance to date, pound for pound king and UFC middleweight champion Anderson "Spider" Silva made his debut at light heavyweight a successful one by stopping James "Sandman" Irvin with one punch. Irvin, who has registered 10 of his previous 14 wins via KO, was thought to have the bigger punching power. After missing a kick to the body, Irvin was dropped instantly by the best in the world, with one right cross. The official time was 1:01. Silva has no immediate plans for remaining at 205 lbs. and feels obligated to defend his middleweight title. However, he has no reservations about returning to the light heavyweight division.

In the night's co-feature, a rejuvenated Brandon "The Truth" Vera earned his first victory at 205, UFC newcomer Reese Andy via unanimous decision. Though Vera controlled all three rounds, Andy proved to be a very live underdog , landing a number of hard punches.

In preliminary fights: Lightweight Frankie "The Answer" Edgar outworked the veteran Hermes Franca over three grueling rounds to earn a unanimous decision. All three scorecards read the same, 30-27. Heavyweight college wrestling powerhouse Cain Velasquez scored the biggest win of his career, pounding out "Irish" Jake O'Brien in just 2:02 from a very dominate crucifix position. Welterweight Kevin Burns won via TKO after he blatantly fingered the eye of his opponent Anthony Johnson. With the world expecting a DQ in favor of Johnson, it was announced as a TKO victory the other way at 3:35 of round three. Burns had been previously warned twice for the foul. In a match of TUF 7 favorites, finalist CB Dolloway made history, applying the UFC's first "Peruvian Necktie" to submit Jesse Taylor 3:58 of the first round. MMA veteran Rory Markham made his presence known flattening Brodie Farber with a highlight reel headkick knockout. The official time was 1:37. Welterweight "Bad" Brad Blackburn chalked up his first UFC win knocking out James Giboo in the second round with a flying knee at 2:29. TUF veteran Tim Credeur redeemed his loss in the shows semi finals TKO'ing Cale Yarbrough in the opening round. In a battle of newcomers, Shannon Gugerty submitted Dale Hartt with a rear naked choke at 3:33 of round one.

impressive win by Silva, glad it wasnt a PPV  Vera, was not in shape, i mean he made the cut, but couldn't do anything; lackluster fight  |
