You are correct elprofe, 2005 was the only time we palyed for state,,,,,,you are also right about the teams of the 90'sbeing stronger. In the 90's we had a team called La Marque that was our downfall along with several last second loses. The 2005 team was a great bunch of kids that worked hard and were a very proud bunch,,,,,but as far as Calallens best,,,,,I would rank them outside the top 5 in talent but in the top 3 in desire and guts.

I'm going to try to get season tix for the area around the very top bleachers at the stadium. Currently, we have season tix on the 50 ( near EE's "super's " seat ) and it is getting very crowded. My bro and I are big and both have alot of "back" so we need more room. I'll probably get seats near my tia's on the last row of the bleachers on the top- she has about 13 seats in that area and with me and my brother we will make it 17!

I remeber that '89 game because my brother was playing TB and my cousin was the WR. I remember SR was up at the half until EE came storming back in the second half. All in all it was a good game to watch.

Okay... I've pieced together a bit more than I had for the 1st season. The following are PDF's of entire newspaper pages that mention E-E and either games that just occurred or that are scheduled to occur.

What I have so far:

Weekend of 9/23/38 San Perlita 19, Edcouch-Elsa 0
Weekend of 10/7/38 Edcouch-Elsa played La Joya (score unknown)
Weekend of 10/14/38 Edcouch-Elsa lost to Rio Hondo (score unknown)
Weekend of 10/21/38 Raymondville 102, Edcouch-Elsa 0
Weekend of 10/28/38 La Feria 39, Edcouch-Elsa 6

E-E won over Rio Grande City 27-0 at some point during that season as it was their first and only win that year.

That accounts for 6 of the 8 known games that the UIL has on record for E-E that season.

Click here --->September 25, 1938 - the article in the far left column initially reports E-E 19, San Perlita 0, but later in that same article it gives details of the game and mentions that it was San Perlita that won so I imagine the first report of E-E winning is a typo.

Click here --->October 2, 1938 - in article in bottom left of page entitled "Close Tilts Feature Valley Grid Play" it mentions that E-E is scheduled to play La Joya that coming week.

Click here --->October 23rd, 1938 - in article in right central area of page entitled "Valley Grid Races Move Nearer End" it reports the loss to Raymondville and mentions they are playing La Feria the following week.

Click here --->October 30th, 1938 - in article in left top of page entitled "Valley Gridiron Races Begin To Shape Up" it mentions La Feria's 39-6 win over E-E
