Well short version is.....NO WAY does he start in front of Romo, even you don't really believe that.

I think he'd be a little less distracted during the season. He probably still has a better arm and mobility.

Favre will not play for the Boyz. No way! With Romo already gelling with his playes would be dumb to put Favre in. Favre said something about going to the Bucs. Something like it's not too hot to play in Tampa.

Alright, Brett Might Be Kind of an A-Hole
From Deadspin.com:
Amidst all the Brett Favre will he?/won't he?-coverage during the past two weeks, one topic that's come a lot is the status of his precious legacy in the eyes of his fans and the league. The Brett Favre purists and sycophants don't want to see Brett be "Willie Mays on the Mets" "Johnny Unitas on the Chargers" or "Manute Bol on The Miami Heat", etc.
He doesn't even need to step on the field to tarnish that legacy anymore. The Wisconsin State Journal printed the transcript from the second portion of Brett Favre's interview with Greta Van Susteren and Favre comes off like a man who's completely lost any and all human sensibility.
Some excerpts:
• "It's hard for me to trust this guy (Packs' GM Ted Thompson) when either I'm told one thing and everyone else is told another, or he's telling the public one thing and telling me another. ... That's part of the reason for (asking for) the release (from the Packers)."
• Favre also put his friend, offensive line coach James Campen, in a tough spot with the organization by saying his former teammate told him he could "force their hand" by applying for reinstatement and coming back to the team.
• When Van Susteren intimated during the aired portion of the interview that Aaron Rodgers, whom the Packers have backed publicly as their 2008 starting quarterback, probably won't stay healthy after suffering injuries the past two seasons, Favre replied, "I do feel bad for Aaron a little bit."
• Favre also acknowledged that he hasn't talked to Rodgers and that, "I never gave him advice, really."
"I know this has been tough on him," Favre said of Rodgers. "And this has nothing to do with him, this whole deal. If they want to make (me) a backup ... how does that protect my legacy if I'm a backup? If (they say), 'Brett, we'll welcome you back, we'll pay you $12 million, but you've got to hold the clipboard and ball cap?' That's probably better for them as opposed to letting me go somewhere and me coming back (with another team). Then their legacy, the management, would, you know, could be in jeopardy."
• "Ted (Thompson) and I, I thought, have always had a good relationship. We don't talk a whole lot, we don't go out and eat and shoot the bull. But on three different occasions ... I don't want to say (he) lied — I think that's kind of a harsh word — but I think 'untruth' or whatever is (a) better (word)."
He's a gunslinger...he's just a little kid having fun out there...he's a pretty special guy.

There are two very simple solutions to this.
1) They take Brett back and he is their starter. After all, if the Colts for whatever reason released Manning and the Pack picked him up. Manning would be the Packs starter no questions asked. Simply because Manning is a proven, and better QB than Rodgers, just as Farve is. 2) The Pack release Brett. Let him go to another team.
And yes I do think Farve could start over Romo. You can’t tell me that there would not be an immediate QB controversy if Brett were to come to the ‘Boys.
Now that is if you throw out the cap, having that Romo just signed a new contract last year. Cowboys are not going to pay Romo what they are paying him to hold a clipboard. But yes Brett is as good if not better than Romo simply because Brett is a proven QB. Now would Brett be the future, no.

brett would not start, although he is better, because they're looking to the future, just like the packers are....i'm pretty sure the people in the locker room would've liked for him to stay in the first place and would welcome him back with open arms. they should just release him and move on. brett favre is not going to be the mentor type, he wants to play......

How about he just stops acting like if the Packers owe him anything and be a man of his word. For all of the hype and idolatry that Brett Favre gets the media has sure described his playing style in an accurate way - childlike. Who would've thought it also applies to his career decisions.
I just dont understand why he feels that the packers owe him anything. It's not like he played for peanuts. He was paid to play football, and very handsomely I might add. Yet he's acting as if the organization is forever indebted to him and they should grant him his every wish regardless of the consequences. The Packers rightfully moved on, they've made their plans and now they are supposed to just throw them away because he had a change of heart. And on top of that he goes on TV and and bad mouths the organization that holds the key to his future?

I don't think there would be a QB controversy at all. Brett at one time was better than Romo, but the game has past him by. And being a whinning crying baby won't win him any points either. Man up, you had a great career but now it is time to leave it to the younger more capable QB's out there. Leave with some dignity, if he has any left.

the packers don't owe him anything? he could've jumped ship back when they lost everybody. he stuck around and helped them salvage the season every year....last year, when the players that they gave him started to come around and produce, he showed that he could still do it. i'm not saying that they should take him back and start him, but they owe him some respect. he was the packers for so long. give him what he wants.....release him.....

Agreed! Yes he is proven but most teams are looking for the future while still being a contender. Favre is good but is on the other side now. Romo is more versatile and quicker than Favre is. Manning won't be released. Favre will play for a team that is desperate to win, maybe the Bears, Bucs, or a team that is in need for a QB. Cowboys and Colts won't get him.

Whats the big deal about letting him go. Why wouldnt they? If the are scared to play against him then start him. IF not let him go...big deal!

The short answer. $$$
They own him and his name now. They get a cut of the sales of that jersey with #4 on it as well as a bunch of other little contractual rights. Favre's name on a baggie with a fart in it could make it worthwhile purchase to many.
