Just a little food for thought:
E-E has it's loyal fans and doesn't need the sympathy or support from anyone else. With that said, did anyone notice the difference in the number of compliments to Mission Vets after winning the Superbowl versus the number compliments for EE after winning @ LSU?
Haters in the club!

well.......give it some time buzzy....maybe if you and the rest of the EE clan stay away from the thread long enough for people to read it they might post a congrats.........but seeing as how the thread says "lsu 7on7 tourney" and not "EE wins lsu 7on7 tourney" people probably aren't going to be that interested.

Congratulations E-E 7 on 7! This was a wow thing, a shocker, well maybe not to you guys.
I hope you beat more of the Texas teams considered tops at the state meet.
So still no report on the details along the way?

Congrats to EE. Seems that we will have a good aerial attack. With the departure of Roger does anyone know who will replace him. My opinion is, since nino appears to have bulked up a little bit he will be a dual threat. Will he throw or will he run? That should keep defenses in check. The kid has decent speed and by the 7 on 7 previews his passing has been on target.

Not too surprised. Nino has that experience with his receivers on a polished level. They have been doing well since last year on the 7 on 7. But nevertheless a Great Congratulations to EE for the championship. My question is how many other teams from Texas were there and any known teams we know of?

Stinger Splash E-E wins LSU 7-on-7 national tournament July 22, 2008 - 11:57AM By JOHN CANNON/Mid-Valley Town Crier EDCOUCH - The Edcouch-Elsa 7-on-7 football team saved the best for last. After being eliminated by Stephenville 25-21 in the first round of championship bracket in the 7-on-7 state tournament in College Station two weeks ago and falling to Mission Veterans in the semi-finals of the 7-on-7 Super Bowl last Wednesday, the Jackets won the LSU 7-on-7 football national tournament championship by defeating Scotlandville 44-27 Saturday. "Our kids wanted some revenge after losing to Mission Veterans last week and got it," said Edcouch-Elsa head coach Joe Solis. "We didn't expect this tournament to be as big as it turned out to be. Honestly, we thought it was a regular 7-on-7 tournament." "But, once we saw the competition we were going against, we knew we were going to have our hands full. The kids on the other teams were big and most of them are of African-American decent. However, we surprised them and took it all." Over 64 teams competed in the tournament held at the LSU campus in Baton Rouge and Edcouch-Elsa 7-on-7 coach Brandon Solis said that the teams they faced were quite a challenge for his squad. "We played Natchez, a team from Mississippi in the first round and they were very tough," said Solis. "They had a lot of speed and talent. But, we went into the game very disciplined and stuck to the game plan and were able to beat them 28-23." "Then, we faced Redemptorist from Louisiana and they were a 3-time consecutive state champion in class 3A. They tried to slow the game down, but our defense came up big and made some big plays. Also, Redemptorist made some mistakes that we were able to capitalize on. They drove the ball into the red zone twice and we stopped them. Our offense did their job and we were able to beat them 18-13." Before the game against Redemptorist, Joe Solis said that they were talking a little trash to his team. "The players from Redemptorist were pointing to our kids after we beat Natchez and were saying that they do whatever they want, whenever they want to their opponents," said Solis. "That ticked off some of our kids and they were determined to not let them get into their heads and would not back down. That provided a big spark for us and was a big reason why we beat them." Edcouch-Elsa defeated Sulphur, Louisiana 35-22 and Wash-Mar, Miss., 30-0 and advanced to the championship game to face Scotlandville, La. "Our guys were tired after playing in the hot sun all day. But, we told them that this was the last game of the day and that we have the potential to win the whole thing," said Joe Solis. "Scotlandville had won a few state titles themselves and were one of the best teams from Louisiana and their athletes are heavily recruited." Solis also talks about the championship game and how his team fought back from an early deficit. "They ended up scoring on us on the very first play. However, our quarterback Erik Nino threw a touchdown pass on our first possession and we shut the other team up real quick. From there, we started clicking and ended up beating them 44-27." "After the game, the LSU coaches came up and wanted some information on Nino and our tight end Arti Tanguma. The offensive coordinator asked me about them and was very impressed in what he saw." Solis said the coaches from LSU were also impressed with their heritage. "The most impressive thing they told me was that these boys were Hispanic and did so well playing football. Most people think that Hispanics are only good at soccer or baseball. However, these two guys really turned some heads up there and gave LSU something to look about." "I am extremely proud of the kids and the way they bounced back after that devastating loss last week. Also, we proved that the Valley can go up out of the state and compete with the big boys. Most teams that go to the playoffs lose because of the travel, are outmanned, or are afraid of the size and color of the other teams they face from up north." www.midvalleytowncrier.com/sports/big_1517___article.html/tournament_solis.html

Very good article. I was told about the remarks that they were told. They were telling them that the only things Mexicans can catch were tortillas.
