If Gilbert can stay healthy, he can absolutely go for over 1000 yards. I saw him rack up over 200 on Mercedes last season. As long as his injuries don't cost him this year, he can be a 1st team all district IMO. Well that's great to hear, especially from someone with more expertise on the game than me.

Gilbert is a scatback that not many are familiar with because he was injured for the last part of the season. He had that very big breakout game against Mercedes and then got injured. I think the coaches didn't really know how good he was until they actually started giving him the ball. He is best when he goes up the middle and uses his juke ability to make the defenders miss. He has decent speed as well. The Patriot OL will be big once again so he should have some good holes to run through.

EagleProphet, I really think Mission may sneak up on some folks. Very athletic group.
Who is the tall, lanky, wide receiver? He's dark skinned though I don't think he's African American. He's very good.

He's very good. That's what I'd like to think myself. We have lots of talent, but just haven't gotten the PT at the Varsity level because many of them were just sophomores. Trey Jones I believe is African American. He's a good kid and has great hands with very decent speed. I don't think he's the one you are talking about. You may be talking about Mike Reynoso. He's a blazer, too and from what I hear has been clocked at 4.3's in the 40 several times. So he may be the one you're talking about. There are others out there with tremendous speed as well, but also were sophomores last year. Our question will be at the QB and OL. The skill players should be very good and fast, but time will tell.

I've also been impressed with Mission Veterans size at the skill positions.
You factor in that Weslaco East is working hard, Mission with all that speed, and Mission Vets size....32-4a will not be a cake walk. I think that EE is still the team to beat but Mercedes will not waltz into the playoffs.
It will be interesting.

They say he has improved his footspeed as well. So they will also be a team to watch. We like it over here that all of the attention is going to the Mid Valley teams and deservedly so, but the two Mission teams will have something to say about who gets in the playoffs. Don't be surprised if both of us over here get in leaving someone from the Mid Valley wondering what happened the way we were last season.

Like I stated last year, 32-4a is no longer just a "bump in the road" for Coastal Bend teams on their way to the playoffs. Valley teams gave the CB a run for their money last year and will do the same this year, only with different results. I would not doubt it if all four 32-4a Valley playoff teams made a clean sweep of the CB this year. I know some of you doubt it, but I believe it!

I can say that we have a legit shot at going 2 for 4 against them, but I don't want to get overconfident and say we can sweep all 4. They have Callalen and FB in there and those are tough teams in any part of the state.

I read on the other forum, that Weslaco has two new players from California. Both are on defense and both are over 6'1''...any truth to this?
Is this is where all the weslaco fans get their confidence from? Do they have their papers in order?

well, judging from your first statement, i would say yes....so you think the 2 from California are the 2 from Corpus? He went into detail on the players...
WESLACO HAS TWO NEW FOOTBALL PLAYERS OUT OF THE AREA, FROM L.A HIGH SCHOOL CALL EISENHOWER. BOTH PLAYER OUR IN DEFENSE, 6'2 AND 6'3 BOTH WITH REALLY GOOD SPEED AND BOTH JRS. BOTH ARE SAMONAS MIX WITH HAWIAN. THEY WERE WORKING OUT TODAY IN THE WEIGHT ROOM WITH COACH v!
