Star unveils new football series
Tuesday marks 50 days until the start of the 2008 Valley high school football season.
And to help count down, the Star begins a new series that takes a look at some of the memorable athletes and moments that make Valley high school football so near and dear to us.
“By the Numbers” takes the days remaining until the start of the season and corresponds it with a significant event or athlete.
This is not a ranking or Top 50 list, just a trip down memory lane as the season nears.
On Tuesday the series highlights Mission High’s Lupe Rodriguez and his “50” TD passes in 1987, which is a Valley record.
The series will continue periodically until Aug. 28.

not sure. I'm just glad that football season is almost 50 days away lol. Thanks for the info danman. Actually, it's 39 days if you start the count from the 1st scrimmage which is Aug 16th for some. Even less, if you start the count from 2 a days. |

Even less, if you start the count from 2 a days. sure...I guess they're counting down to the first games of Week 0...any way you slice it...the season's on its way! |
