mmmmmmmm flatties!  nice catch there I bleed. Fishing overall for most of my buddy guides (including myself) has been tough.  Last friday I ran from the island along the east side of the bay, over to the Duncan house and west of it, cut across and over around three islands, moved on to the east side sand, moved again through the cullen channel and headed south towards stover point, past stover and through holly beach and finally back to the island along laguna vista. Through that whole stretch, I pushed one redfish. There may have been another one or two that I may have missed, but not many fish at all. Hopefully fishing returns to normal soon. Fall fishing is right around the corner and that means feeding frenzy time for reds. |

when are you going back out red? I might be going to rockport, aransas pass, and cc area this weekend. Hopefully i will have some time to get my line wet. know any good areas up there?

how is surf fishing right now at the island? Anyone been out there lately? I just got back from surf fishing. It was OK for me since I caught a 4'9'', 50 lb plus reef shark on 15 lb line. It took about an hour and about half a mile down the beach before I landed it. ;D I was located about a mile from the Mansfield Cut, using live finger mullet in the first gut. The driving is excellent, I was averaging a good forty m.p.h. to fifty m.p.h.. No seaweed or grass. The only negative was the water clarity, blue water was way out. |

the mouth over at the jetties at spi will be good for kingfish when the blue water comes in.
